Hi there again...consider using double-side sticky tape to prevent table top surfing. Cats dislike having their paws to the tape and soon learn to avoid areas which are unpleasant. This method works when you are not able to supervise their undesirable behaviour such as when you are sleeping or away at work for example. Spray bottles and startling them may work, however you need to be physically present whereas the stickly tapek, foil and other deterrents which are similar gets the cats to learn for themselves which areas are unpleasant.

My grandmother had that problem with her cats, she bought these safe mouse trap things. The snapped shut (not hurting the cats) but making a loud popping noise. This scared the cat down from the table. It had been a pretty good success.
My uncle and I have taken a more extreme approach, we camp out waiting for the cat with a little squirt gun and shoot the cat with water when ever they get close to the table. I am satisfied with a spry bottle while my uncle tried a big squirt gun. This does work, but needs to be reinforced often.
Also poky matts work, they don’t really hurt the cat because they are just rubber but they are unpleasant enough to keep the cat off the table! We have used this method to try to stop spraying. It did work.
There is no stay spray but you don’t want to use it unless you don’t want a cat in a room, like wise if you use the smell of peppers (chopped up peppers) it works most of the time. We have only had one cat who ignored it. (We had to stop him from eating it! It’s worked in different house holds in 7 out of 8 cats)
Try Dr. Foster and Smith, they have cleaver things that are bond to at lest give you ideas! Look under "Training".
I wish you the best of luck!

Squirt bottles or squirt guns work awesomely and are very fun, but only until there broken of the the negative habits. If you keep shotting them afterward they will become immune to the punishment. I also rule with an iron fist and a loud, booming voice. If a cat needs a tap on the hind quarters, they get the message and it doesn't hurt. You walk over to them with a purpose(they can feel the tension) and you give them just a small smack and they know and eventually they will only do it when you're not around to scold them. The squirt gun works but the "love taps" and booming voice work faster.

You should use a squirt gun. It's handy and cats are quick. You didn't what a gun, get a spray bottle. But, you can get a better shot with the gun. Every time the cats jump on the table, they get wet. It may take a while, but it'll work. You should try and keep them out of the room if you aren't home. Otherwise, they go on the table while your gone. Good Luck.

I have had the same kind of thing with my cat, so I filled a spray bottle with water. Each time he did something that I didn't want him to, I sprayed him. It only took a few times that he desided on his own that he wasn't going to do that. Most cats dont like water so its a good way of teaching, without hurting them. Good luck.

There are devices you get from pet stores that detect motion. When the cat jumps on the table it will be scared off by the noise.
This is good when you aren't home.
When you are, use a squirt bottle.

a spray bottle with water. make sure you are there at time of occurrence. That might be difficult. Aluminum foil on the table is better because when you are not home, it will still give the animal the negative re-enforcement if it hops on the table.

Go to the dollar store and get several small water guns. Leave them "loaded" around the house. Whenever the cat does something inapproprate squirt them. After a few "shots" they will not do it again.

My Grandmother broke her cat of getting on the table and from scratching the furniture with a duck call, she would hold it in her hand where he could not see it and every time he did something bad, she would blow.. freaked him out and in about a weeks time he stopped the bad behavior.. He was a much nicer cat after that..

Aluminum foil, plenty of it,on the table. When he jumps up,it will make a noise and rattle. Some pepper sprinkled on top of it makes him sneeze..and if he still dont get startled enough,a squirtgun with water followed by a NO may help.
