Recycled paper is just as good as new paper. Paper is made from breaking down wood fibers and manufacturing then into paper sheets. Recycled paper is when they take used paper and breaking it down into fibers again and remaking them into paper sheets. The problem is a lot of the used paper has been dyed various colors which giver the recycled paper its off color gray look. It can be bleached white again but that adds expense so most recycled paper is used in making cardboard boxes or products which will be redyed. Fine white paper used for writing etc is usually made from new fibers. Even so, recycling saves a lot of trees.

Just answered that on a previous question (sort off).
Paper mills have started growing their own trees on land they own for the production of paper since the logging industry is limited to the kinds of trees that can be logged.
Recycling old newspapers requires the paper to have the ink bleached out if it is not biodegradeable (like soy ink) and the pulp has to be chemically treated before it can be processed as paper.
Recycled paper is usually rougher in texture for general use, depending on the use.
The recycling process adds to the cost of recycled paper compared to new paper and the bleached ink and chemical treatments are toxic wastes that have to be dealt with also.

John's answer is great, just like recycled paper! But unfortunatley there is still a myth that recycled paper is poor quality and looks bad. Actually there are many paper companies now making recycled content paper (up to 100% post-consumer waste) that is just as good quality as new paper. Check out the sites below. Many books and magazines are now on recycled paper, but as consumers we should use our voices to ask for more products printed on recycled paper! catalogs for example- Victoria's Secret was under a lot of pressure to use recycled paper and finally agreed to do so. Recycle and buy recycled- and ask for it wherever you buy paper. It's how we close the recycling "loop".

Its always better to use recycled paper because more the paper old more it will be better.. Recycling paper conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and keeps landfill space free for different sorts of refuse that can't be reused.

I like white paper to write on. It just feels wierd writing on brown or grey paper.

If anyone who reads this has Showtime on Demand, and it still has Penn & Teller BullS**t on it, look for the recycling one. They always have good points and counter points. If you can find it anywhere else or any of there othere episodes anywhere else check them or it out.
