Nope. I've had a near death experience and I saw no "distant heavenly light". All I heard were my gasping breaths and the doctors wheeling me through the hospital hallways. All I saw was the oxygen mask over my face and the nursing staff checking my vitals.

double post?

One time i had an OBE, and there was NO light at all as i walked into the next room. but i did see an Angel at the back door while the door appeared to be open.
however when i went back to the bed i was laying on, after i started breathing again, i walked to the back door which was physically closed and there was a 13 year old boy. He didnt see me walk into the room but he was standing exactly where i had see the spirit being.

Ok, as for lights, Many many times i have experienced a LIGHT appear in my mind while just lying down on a bed, sometimes it would seem like the Sun was shining into my room and i would wake up and the blankets would be covering my face at 2 or 3 am in the morning. Sometimes it would be during the middle of the day.
the medical condition is very much like what is decribed when people have a heart attack, where their entire vision becomes cloudy and white. So it is possible to see the light when you die but NOT ALL THE TIME.

by the way, I was 15 or 16 when an Angel of light entered my room and the LIGHT that accompanied him filled the entire room and the inside of my mind! i dont think a teenager is going to die of a heart attack, unless it was Truly an Angel or someone poisoned my BED!

How the heck should we know? Can't only the dead answer this?

I had a dream, though, where I was shot and my eyes were closed as I died and then the pain went away and I knew I was dead, and I was afraid to open my eyes, worried to see the fire of hell or the light of heaven. I saw light beyond my closed eyes (like if you shut your eyes outside in the daylight, how you can still see brightness sorta) and I slowly opened my eyes and saw a little more light, and just as I opened my eyes, knowing it was heaven, I saw the ceiling of my bedroom and realized it was just a dream.

Sometimes.

You usually see family members and you are drawn by a brilliant white light.

Other times you are with someone and something pulls you through the white light. You would do anything to stay.

Sometimes you see only darkness.

If you see the white light, you will never forget it.

That's what some say, but I have never came close to dying so I couldn't tell you. However I have a friend who did die for a few and she told me that she was floating above her body and the next thing she knew was that she was in pain again with paramedics around her. She came close to drowning.

We have very few people who have died and come back to tell us. If they do, we say they haven't died enough. There are a number of testimonies to this effect. Another one is seeing a loved one or Jesus.
By the way, if true if would fit wonderfully w/ modern astronomy.
