There is no really nice way of breaking up with a guy, even if you want it to be that way. There is just no way. In the end, he gets his heart broken, you feel guilty, and you both lose. So, best advice, do it in the way that you think is best. Please don't drag him on, it wil hurt him even more in the end. Tell him the truth, and then it won't be that bad.

Don't be rash with him, be straight. Lads hate nothiong more than feeling as though the women has been playing them for a fool. Explain the reasons for wanting to end it and make sure you answer any questions he may ask - That way at least he can see your being up front with him. Do NOT try to be forceful as it will come as a shock to him in any instance and being aggressive would only provoke him. But as long as your willing to answer his questions then thats the best way.

Sorry but there is no "nice way" in all relationships there is always one that gets hurt while the other moves on. Honesty is best. Hey,..I'm just not feeling it anymore. Never say "sorry" this creates the illusion that you still care and they will feed on that.

How long have you dated?
It's awkward no matter how you do this and I agree with people who say face-to-face is the best way, but in some ways thru email or instant messenger etc is nicer because then they don't have to face you.

Sadly, if he likes you he is going to be hurt in any case.
The best way is to be direct and make it clear this is the end. Any beating around the bush will just prolong his pain
