I've heard this more than once, and have read that some Pastors of Deliverance Ministries, feel Christians should not pray out loud concerning our weaknesses and fears because demonic spirits will use them against us. If you're Christian, how do you feel about that?
I feel that Satan can only do what God allows him to do, so praying quietly or out loud shouldn't matter right? God will use any attempts of wrong doing towards his children, to work out for good, if only they have faith and believe. Any oppression or manipulation by Satan and/or demonic influences, is allowed by God to test, strengthen, and humble Believers. So should we monitor our prayers in this way? Does that symbolize one fears Satan, more than they trust God? Why or why not? Thanks

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I've noticed that many CHRISTIANS, don't take demonic influence seriously, or they feel that being a Chrisitan, means they do not have to worry about oppression from demons. This is really shocking for christians. I believe a true believer can not be posessed, but they most certainly can and will be attacked and/or oppressed. This is why we're told to wear the spiritual suit of armor at all times.

I also don't agree when christians pray to be noticed. We should pray with others, but it is not for show. I pray often alone, and though I don't verbalize my prayers loudly, I do pray at a volume similar to when one is talking face to face to a parent. I pray silently as well, especially in public as I pray continuously all day, too much to keep track.

Prayers of real Christians will be revealed in alignment to God's will and not of their own. When praying aloud... is like expressing your thoughts aloud using words which is the purpose of human communication, or our means to be heard or understood...If the demons will hear prayers of real Christians, I doubt if they can stand to listen to it for the Christains speaks the words implanted to them by God, which is sharper than a two-edged sword, dividing the soul and spirit.....so i find no reason for prohibiting praying out loud. Besides David encourages Israel to even shout for their cries or their joys to God. Although Jesus commends praying alone in a secluded area than to be seen by hypocrites and be like them. SO it is good to pray with fellow believers, and if there aren't...pray alone.
About demon opression, if a believer trusts in God, he fears nothing. For me, I find it hard to pray not speaking words....but its just me, besides when Jesus prays, he often prays aloud...other prayers than that, i don't know...When God gives you boldness, even in the manner of praying, thinking that the devil may hear is out of the question, coz when you pray , you are submitting/ concentrated on God's presence in your life.
Good Q.

I have never heard that, but I know that if you are all prayed up you will have nothing to fear, if you are in the middle of a deliverance. However if you have any hidden sins, it would be better if you didn't pray in that type of ministry because demons know your sins and weaknesses and will often try to get the attention off of the person who's bieng delivered and on to somebody else. Also, demons will try to make you feel unworthy or hypocritical so that you can't pray for someone. The best thing for christians who are in the deliverance ministry is to be in constant prayer and fast often. Confess all your sins and accept the forgiveness that God gives. In this way you will be equiped with the full armor of God to be able to go into spiritual battle at anytime with no fears of what Satan and his cronies will try. I could go on and on, but I think that is the basics of it.

You do good theology, brother. What you write about relative power and purpose are nicely stated - clearly as well. Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come," which pretty much puts any concern in God's policy manual and leaves out a fear of satan.
The NT says the demons recognize God and tremble w/ fear. I would think calling on God would terrorize them.
I suspect, though I do not know for a fact, such teaching is popular because it instills fear which is a cheap high and addictive.

It's called superstition. It's the same reason some people throw salt and cross their fingers or (a few hundred years ago) shunned certain combinations of musical notes. All of these have their basis in the medieval Church.
As a Christian, I think it's bupkus and that demons and Satan can't override God, who wants us to confess our weaknesses.

The Bible says that Satan is roaming about the earth seeking whom he may devour. He wants to steal, kill & destroy us. He is not able to read our thoughts as God is so even if we have fears and hopes and dreams for our children he doesn't know that unless he hears us verbalize them. I personally don't want to give satan any ammunition to use against me or my family. I have no problems with rebuking satan out loud but when I pray for my family and my future and ask for blessing or guidance with my plans that is just between me and God. It's not that God can't protect me from satan's attacks in those areas is just that I don't want satan to have any ideas about my hopes, my dreams or my fears. He can't know those unless I speak them. God tells us it's wrong to test Him in that way. By the same token I'm not going to go jump off a cliff and have faith that God will save me. He gave me common sense as well as faith.

Any sincier prayer is like anti-demon... they can not stand to hear the name of Jesus being worshiped... Those of True Faith have power over any demon... satan, and his forces can not harm one of God's to the point of actual injury or death. Though they can physicaly attack, the forces of evil usualy try to weaken the witness of believer by leading them into temptation... and all fall for this in one way or another from time to time... I have been attacked by the forces of evil on two occasions since coming to God.. all I had to do was invoke the authority of Jesus The Christ, as all who follow Him may do, and the attackers departed.

Nothing I believe... Satan doesnt have to hear me say anything to tempt me. I dont think all prayers should be spoken outloud just because it can become inpersonal and become a show for others instead of a truthful heartfelt prayer.
I dont think many Christians as deliverance pastors think

If you say the prayer of the mind you better say it in your mind...and you can say a prayer all day long.
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."
When you really want to pray and help somebody you better pray in your mind, our faith is as it is...may God help us be always with Him!
