i've had a groin abscess on the skin for 8 months now. I went to the doctor when i first noticed it, he gave me antibiotics, it didn't work. Don't have insurance anymore so, after that i decided to drain it myself w/ a clean needle..BAD IDEA!!! now it won't stop pussing and bleeding. i went to the emergency room for the first time 2 months ago, the doctor lanced it and gave me antibiotics, that didn't work. I went back a month ago, a different doctor said i just need antibiotics for a little longer and that should heal it. I'm finished w/ the antibiotics, and i am still bleeding-draining-pussing. The incision was healing up, but today it was itching, i put pressure w/ gauze b/c it was bleeding more than yesterday, then a whole bunch of blood came out. I took a shower and put the shower head to it. It has slowed bleeding, but i know it will come back. I am also nursing my son so i can only take certain antibiotics. I need advice, any advice is good advice at this point!!!

By any chance is this in the crack in your back, upper area? If that is so, then it is a pilonidal cyst and for the most part needs to be operated on and extracted wholey. If it is a pilonidal cyst I don't know why two or more docs have both given you antibiotics when they have been proven nearly ineffective against them. If you do have this type of cyst, here is some information, if not good luck and go to a different doctor, again.

It sounds to me that you need to find a "real" doctor for this problem. You really need to find someone who deals with skin disorders that will treat the problem not the symptoms. I wish you luck. Don't give up and don't let the next guy tell you it will clear up with antibiotics if it hasn't worked the two times you tried so far.

You will most likely need to get this taken care of surgically. Insurance or not you need to see the doc again and have him refer you to a surgeon to get this taken care of.

the core (root) is STILL in the abcess. whether you pop it burn it lance it whatever! it wont stop till the core is out!
