There's no set age. My mom tells me guy 7 yrs older should be the max. For me i think 10 yrs difference is the max... you want age in common because once one of you starts to get old and the other is young still that's where problems begin. Honestly even big age gaps sometimes work. Just go with what you feel comfortable with. The odds are more in favor of a good relationship the closer the age, though. Young people don't always want to commit, can be immature, are financially less well off, etc. Someone closer in age probably will have similar life goals, will have more in common (like movies, opinions etc of the same generation), but you never really know.

hi. hmmm age difference? i suppose in a relationship, age dint really play a big part when a pair is in love but when it comes to the parent i suppose is an obstacles to overcome. But since your parent is 17 years apart then i don't think age is a problem for you anymore. You saying you are 40 then i think the youngest you can go for is 20. Any younger than 20, i afraid you might have problem dealing with her not grown up character and that will give you a lot of headaches when you both are dating. Besides that, if you bring her to meet up with your friends and having adult talk, she might have problems dealing with the conversation. so, the youngest you can go for is 20. 20 years old is big enough to think and talk like a grown up then when you bring her out with your friends is more presentable also. That's all. Take care!

If you can get 20year olds great! All the power to ya. But odds really against it lasting long. Lots of reasons, Different interests in 10 years. It worked for me when I was 25 she was 36 it was great sex for 2years. At 42 today, a year ago ended a 4year relationship with my X being 13 years younger. The sad thing is the age difference makes it easy to grow apart. Everyone is different, good luck to ya.

I don't think we should allow society to dictate age restrictions in relationships. There is a 21 year age gap between my boyfriend and I (I'm 27). I have never been happier in my life. Just like with any relationship, it needs to have the essentials like trust, understanding, communication, interests, goals, etc. If those elements are in place, then nothing else matters. Love is the greatest feeling in the world, and age shouldn't stop anyone from experiencing it.

I dont think that there is exactly an "appropriate" age difference. but you no that if you are 40 and with a 20 year old people will probably say or think stuff, but that isnt the point. the only thing that matters is that if you find someone that you l ove and are compatible with, they are the one for you regardless thier age.

My parents are seven years apart and they turned out great!
It really depends on the person. Girls tend to mature faster, so I've found when the guy is older, it can work out better. But my mother is the older one, and my parents are totally in love. Age is only a number ... if you find someone you like (as long as it's legal,) go for it!

His mom and the persons gets over it in time and that i might desire to assert i'm sixteen and not even a senior i would be a senior whilst i'm 17!!!!! you particularly are smart!!!!!!! some people are more mature than others so i think if you think the woman is the right one, age difference shouldnt matter
look at your parents for example, 17 years apart is a big difference but who cares :] !
