I moved into a new apartmet two months ago. The neighbors have a problem with my dogs. They are always on their leashes, they don't bark that much, they are good dogs. The neighbors are freeking out because the dogs poop on the side of the house. I thought that was a good place because people then won't step in it. I have watched their dogs poop over their too. I walk around the whole yard about twice a week picking up all the poop (even the stuff from their dogs) In the place where I live there are my two dogs and two other dogs. the neighbors have at least two dogs that live over there. They have been calling the town on us and complaning. Today my landlord thretned to evict us. I am going to start picking up my dogs poo and only thier poo as soon as it happens. I thought I was being nice by picking up the whole yard but no one seems to care. I also thought that twice a week would be sufficent. do you thing we can be evicted for this. do you think the neighbors are messing with us...

I have shortened the dogs leashes so they can't posibly poop in their yard. It is a very small area between houses, you would have to see it to understand. I talked to a guy at the town hall today and he understood what I was saying. He thought this whole thing was kindof stupid. I would to talk to the people but 1-i never see them and 2- I have herd they are rude jerks...
All i can think to do is just make sure my dogs poo is picked up, but I know they will still think it is from my dogs if anyone elses dog poops over there

That is ridiculous. You can't be legally evicted over anything like that unless you are in direct violation of your lease. Maybe you can take some pictures of the yard to protect yourself anyways.

You can't get in trouble over the dog feces since you are not the only person with dogs unless somebody has video or something showing that your dogs goes in their yard and you don't immediately remove it. Even then, you would only be facing a fine.

Anyway, sorry you are going through this. Don't let them pick on you, let them know you are aware of your legal rights, and if they want to push it, you can push too. Don't be afraid to get a free consultation with a lawyer to see for sure if a landlord in your city can evict you for something like that (also discuss issues of harassment) or to talk to animal control in your area. If they illegally evict you or your neighbors continue to pose a problem, certainly get the consultation with the lawyer so you can see what you can press charges for or sue for in terms of harassment and illegal eviction.

Is there a way you can put a small decorative fence between the two spaces and keep your poo cleaned up, and that way they will know it is their dogs and not yours.. the little fence only has to be about a foot tall. just something to mark the spot your dogs go and a space for theirs.. that way they can see you are being a good neighbor and picking yours up.. probably no way you are going to make your jerks happy though, if they have it in their head that your evil dogs are doing wrong and their never do nothing wrong dogs are perfect, you may be fighting a loosing battle.. I would have a long talk with the land lord, and see what can be worked out.. good luck..

Seems you need to pick up poo every day.The stench and the bacteria that is accumulated in a pile of poo can be detrimental to anyone who lives nearby...especially summertime, when it also collects flies, maggots and the like.
So make it a routine to pick it up every day,the same time,so you dont forget. If other dogs (your neighbors') also use that spot, rake it all up and dont whine about it.Place a big garbagecan with a plastic garbage bag inside it,on that side of the house.Make sure it has a tight fitting lid.Use it to empty the poo in.Once a week, put an extra garbage bag around the first one,and let the garbagecollectors dispose of it along with your other trash.Once in a while, water down the restroom area with antibacterial dishwashingliquid (Drop it in front of a hose for instance) and spray a bleach solution over the dirt (one cup bleach to a bucket of water). That helps get rid of the worst smell and keeping germs at bay aswell.Be a good neighbor, smile, keep it clean, and everyone will be much happier, including your landlord!

Eviction laws are different in every state.. so it would depend on where you live. BUT.. if you are keeping up after your dogs, they are not a noise nuisance and your landlord knew you had them when you moved in..it would be very difficult to get you evicted based on the fact that your neighbors have a problem with the dogs.

sorry to say, but yes. Our town actually has a law that if an animal poops on private or public property, you will be fined (if proven)
Since you're not the homeowner, I would have to agree that it should be picked up when it's 'expelled' :o) Not only is it gross to see out your window, but phew- it's smelly!
Just take a plastic bag with you, pick it up and toss in the common trash. As a renter, you have to follow the rules. When we lived in our condo, we had the same type of rules- but it started with fines and $25 per poop not picked up was too much for us.

Be meticulous about cleaning up after your dogs every time they go. Try and keep them as quiet as possible. Just mind your own business don't get into confrontations with the neighbors even if they try to drag you into them. In other words you and your dogs keep a low profile and I think the landlord will leave you alone. Good Luck.

sounds like your neighbors are a-s-s holes!!! and ya if your landlord wants to evict you then ya he can. have you tried to talk to your neighbors to find out what the issue is? and if your dogs are pooping in a certain spot and their dogs are too and others then twice a week isn't enough. everyone should be doing this every time their dog does his business.

try changing areas that your dogs go to potty in and see if this helps to eleviate any more issues. good luck

You should have made a point of picking up after the dogs as soon as they did their business. No one likes to look at and step around dog droppings. Now that you know this when you take your dogs out, carry bags and make sure everyone sees you picking up after your dogs. That should quite everyone down.

I don't think that you can be evicted for this if it did not state in the lease that you could not have pets, or specified a specific place where the dogs are to go and relieve themselves. However, you should clean up after your dogs as soon as they 'do their duty. This should eliminate any type of problem you have.

Poops should be picked up as soon as they are made. It what a responsible owner should do. Most towns have an ordinance for picking up after your dogs and you can get ticketed or fined if you get caught leaving the poops behind.

I walk my dogs with pooper scooper bags and they are removed and bagged as soon as the dogs are done.
