It seems that no one focuses on waiting until they're married especially US teenagers. Alot of tv commercials support the idea of condoms and safe sex but the only safe sex I know is not to have sex. I need some opinions.

I think it has been forgotten because we live in a 'here and now' culture. There's fast food and convenience stores, shopping online, credit cards so you don't have to wait until you've earned the money to make a purchase, etc, etc, etc....
People think it's inevitable that teenagers are going to have sex so they think pushing abstinence isn't going to work so they push prevention of disease and pregnancy while allowing the act that spreads disease and causes pregnancy.

I, for one, will raise my three daughters to understand the importance of waiting until marriage to have sex.

Don't buy into it. just this week reports came showing that 90% of the people born after1950 have had premarital s*x.

The point of the issue was that preaching abstinence to high school students and telling them to wait reaches only 1 in 10 and is a waste of money. It would be better spent teaching birth control methods and STD avoidance.
and it has been that way since the 50's.
It's not your generation, it is the way it is.
It was on the UP wire.

In Australia I'm not entirely sure, I think the pressure to have sex is greater than it was and the conscience of abstience has been left on the wayside. In the US though, there's been a lot of pro-abstinence campaigning so if it's been "forgotten" by the generation, then they've been ignoring the messages, rather than not getting them.

I think it is vary rare to find anyone who is abstinent. Even young teens. I know girls as young as 14 that have been with a few guys and the don't seem to care. And guys these days seem to need bragging rights. Random casual sex inhibits the ability to "truly" love someone. Everyone becomes a piece of meat.

I personally believe in abstinence, and at 21 am still a virgin, which i will stay until my wedding night....the temptation and pressure is out there, but i think there are a lot of people who still believe in abstinence, and people don't have to give into the pressure, it's there choice.
