I hate it. They're turning NASCAR into Indy racing. The manufacturers should try to make them race real stock cars!

What many are not understanding is that the car of tomorrow was developed for a few reasons, better safety for the drivers in the invent of roll overs and fires. These cars give more room in the cockpit to allow the drivers a means of quick escape. Also they built more like a box to slow the cars down for better and more side by side racing, and to get away from making the cars so areo dependent. The engineers, crew chiefs, and drivers will have to work with mechanical grip more like the old days, just like everyone has been clamoring about. They may not look the part but that is exactly what is going on. Also I feel it is a backhanded move to prevent the Cup drivers competing in the Busch on the same weekend to gain an upper hand in the setup of the cars.

If anyone saw Jeff Gordon's wreck at Pocono (when his brakes failed going into turn 1 at 190+ MPH), that's a testament to the safety of the current car. The entire car was crushed, but the cage was intact, and Gordon hopped out of the car without injury.
I think the COT is NASCAR'S way of saying they don't care about their current fan base, and are more concerned with chasing some pipe dream. The wing looks ridiculous, and I don't know how it could possibly provide more rear downforce than a spoiler. I guess France is more concerned with how many Hispanics and blacks watch NASCAR than with how many fans in general the sport has. NASCAR is about auto racing, not pimping rides. What's next, we put spinners on all the cars?

The Car of the Future is supposed to be safer, but as far as I am concerned, the cars are already extremely safe so why change? Anytime you are going 200 mph, there is going to be the element of danger no matter what kind of car you drive. I disagree with NASCAR's descion to change the car because it gives the bigger teams an advantage as far as research goes, thus making the competition less exciting and giving smaller, less funded teams a more difficult time in trying to compete.

can't stand the way it looks. it's starting to lose the stock car look. i obviously don't know too much about it's performace as it's only been tested a few short times, and never really during any racing action. i know most of the drivers/teams aren't too fond of it either..
i really don't think it's going to "even up the field" all that much either..which was the main point behind it.. b/c the safety feature that they are putting into it could have been implemented into the current cars..
so yeah.. all in all.. a big freakin' thumbs down from me..

I think they are going to have to change it, sinec the fans dont like it, the drivers especially dont like it, and thats kind of biased since some do and some dont but the majority dont, and the crews and owners really dont like it, if they want to make the cars better give them better gas mileage or something that is useful, so they dont have to make pitstops as often or something, but make the care more aerodynamic, something, it just doesnt matter but I hope they change it.

I think NASCAR needs to go back to being more based on race modified cars than to continue with what is already basicly mass produced frames with a bunch of sheet metal around them.

well if it makes the racing better then who cares what it looks like, but yes as far as looks go and all that i hate it it looks like a box....but if we can have unbelievable finishes at tracks that normally have a runaway leader then its all worth while right?
