I'm looking for a non-agressive, elegant and smooth finish, warm, not sour, raspberry-like red wine (nothing spicy). I guess one where you can't actually taste the alcohol as a prime feature, but its cozy mature simplicity.

I'm not a very knowledgeable person as far wine is concerned, but once I had an amazing wine in a friend's house (i recall was something like "Primitivo - Shiraz ") and ever since I've tasted some wines but nothing like that. All of them seem to be too sour, too alcoholish, spicy and strong...

If you can give me names, kind of wine, etc I'd extremely appreciate it... it doesn't have to be shiraz... Also if you feel like the description could be applied to a white wine, please give me your knowledge too...

(Hopefully it's something affordable, like under 35, but if you think that's over that, please also mention it... or give possibilities)

Thanks!

Thanks... I've tried Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, but it's not what I really look for... I think it's more on the zinfandel side... Any worthy advice on them, without being spicy or too acid?

Do you know names of wineries or specific geographic spots of it? I've heard of Sonoma Valley in some internet sites, but not more than that

Beaujolais is a nice easy drinking Red from Burgundy French. 90% of the time it is inexpensive. Cost Plus has a couple of nice ones round $10.00. Or go with a Pinot Noir these are a little more expensive but they are lower in alcohol and tend not be "spicy" Castle Rock is good at about $10.00. For the higher range Alma Rosa and Robert Stemmlar are about $30.00.

I think you would like Chianti. nice smooth, medium bodied red. I dislike the peppery reds as well!
Also, J Lohr Cabernet is another good one. If you don't like peppery or spicy, stick with a merlot or cab.
Cheers!

Try my favorite wine, it is white, made in Italy and cost from $10 -$13 dependin where you get it. It is subtle, with a little touch of sweetness to it, it is crisp and lite and so enjoyable as an aperitif or digestif. You may like it. Enjoy

Try a winetasting. Some stores or winecellars have them regularly.

If you can, try a beaujolais nouveau. it will be nothing like the Shiraz, but it's nice and light
