He preached that giving should be done "from the heart and without expectation of any reward." Therefore those who gave with an expectation of glory would be the least given too and the one who gave in secret, the most given too. That is why the Widow with one "penny" was considered to have given more than others who had more. Because she gave EVERYTHING SHE HAD on earth to give, while they gave only a percentage of what they had.
And yes, sadly its the opposite these days. Great question.

What makes you think that Jesus mainly preached about the gap between the rich and the poor? Also what makes you think that Christian conservatives preach the opposite....I am sure that some do preach the opposite, but I am sure that there are also some that preach that you should give to the less fortunate. I don't have an opinion either way, but it seems that your question is a little closed minded.

Actually, Jesus preached about the Kingdom of God. The economic status issue came up only as it touched entering the Kingdom, not as an issue of changing the rich - poor dilemma. The rich giving to the poor was an opportunity offered to those whose god had become the riches they possessed cf. Rich Young Man and Zaccheus.
There are those who preach as you say. The poor respond in order to be a part of one of the few "successes" within their reach. It doesn't make the greed behind it any less disgusting.
I believe it is "some", most likely "a few" Christian conservatives...

Jesus spoke in parables. He used examples people could relate to. Everyone relates to monetary wealth. I don't know the difference between sects and politics of religion. I know I am a child of The Most High and only practice what He recommends- that includes helping out people who are less fortunate. I share what I have. There is nothing that says a Christian isn't supposed to be rich -in all things. It makes sense that the children of The King would not live in squalor- or at least you wouldn't feel like you were. If you sow a seed, there will be a harvest. If you plant one pea, you get more than one pea back.

Jesus preached about Father's Love for us, about forgiveness and
goodness; He taught us to love each other...and what are we doing? Exactly the opposite. If the human beings did what Jesus taught them ther will not be rich and poor; He said that if we have two shirts one to give it to the poor. How many clothes are filled in wardrobes...and how many children are naked?
God didn't want us to be separate like this: rich and poor...but "smart" individuals did that!
I don't think that a Christian, a REAL CHRISTIAN can do something wrong without regretting...we all make mistakes, but we apologize and work hard not to do it again.
It is very important for us not to judge others but ourselves.

i think someone told you some bad facts.
Jesus did preach against wickedness in high places. but most of his ministry was about preaching Faith and repentance.
as for christians who preach the opposite nowadays. you need to give more details.
God promised houses by the hundredfold in this life and wives too. this promise kinda undoes the traditional vows of priests to be poverty stricken, however it is usually the opposite that the poor are more easily able to turn away from Babylon and give up serving Mammon.

i do no longer think of it relatively is as much as a democratic government to "redistribute" earnings like some style of "share the wealth" card in Monopoly or communism. the government ought to in spite of the undeniable fact that do what it could to make existence much less stressful on the damaging and deprived with extra helpful funded and extra social courses, as nicely as tax alleviation for the decrease and center training. Likewise the government ought to additionally close tax loopholes that benefit the prosperous and massive firms. it would additionally place extra controls on large firms, noticeably in the event that they are receiving bailout money. All issues Democratic President Barack Obama is fervently working in direction of and the previous and all Republican administrations completely omit those factors. the only subject that trickles down is excrement, discomfort and suffering as we are all nicely conscious from the two ReaGuns for Hostages' administration and the two Bush Debacles!

"Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core." Jude 1:11
II Timothy 3:1-5 "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
Greed and covetousness mostly. They are false prophets with no real fruits. We are told to avoid those preaching a false gospel and teaching the Word for filthy lucre and causing people to sin through their deceptions. They are wolves in sheep's clothing.
