There's a difference between blackheads and whiteheads. Whiteheads actually have a white head filled with pus and protrude from the skin - which is a pore that has a minor infection. To treat a whitehead(s), wash face (no need to steam)...then GENTLY squeeze to break the skin. Don't squeeze too hard or it'll turn into a scabby blemish...just squeeze hard enough to break the skin. Once the skin's broken, gently run the back of the tip of your fingernail over it to remove most of the pus without squeezing further. Then, treat with whatever topical anti-zit remedy that works for you. The purpose of breaking the skin ensures the topical medication of your choice gets well into the pore. If you don't break the skin (as MANY people tell you not to do), the medicine is only sitting on top of the infected pore. It may dry up eventually, but it'll take longer than if you break the skin and get the medicine directly into the pore.
Blackheads have a gray or blackish appearance and are flush with the surface of the skin. The pore has become clogged with dead skin cells and sebum (a natural oil your skin secretes). They can ONLY be removed physically, not by scrubbing, toning or exfoliating (which only helps prevent blackheads).
That said, cleanse/steam your face (or do it once you've finished a hot shower). If you don't cleanse your face first, bacteria will get into the pores and create blemishes, so make sure your face is clean. Technique is a biggie here...not fancy or expensive tools. Your fingers are fine. When trying to remove a blackhead, you need to apply pressure from both sides at the "belly" of the pore. Think of the skin cells/sebum in the pore as a cork, clogging it. Try to get your fingernails to push the "cork" out from UNDERNEATH. If you just squeeze together, chances are, you'll force all that junk further down into the pore and risk infection/flareup. I not only squeeze from both sides of the blackhead from underneath, but also use a gentle back and force motion to "jimmy" it out. Again, think of a cork in a bottle, it comes out best if you wiggle from side to side.
Once you're done "de-blackheading", wash your face again, tone and mask to ensure no bacteria gets into your open pores.
P.S. If you have a lot of blackheads you're removing, chances are, you'll do one or two of them wrong and may get a little flareup that turns into a whitehead. As you improve on your technique, that will decrease more and more.

The skin on your nose is quite fine, thickness wise, steam from the shower will open the pores, gently squeeze the white head out then apply witch hazel lotion, it is natural, tightens the pores and is also antiseptic, daily use will gradually reduce the outbreaks. I've been using this lotion toner for years and I am 43 without any sign of lines yet.

two index fingers.
place them on either side of the whiteheads and squeeze. if you have some on your nostrils then you can take your thumb, put it under your nose and push up.
i've looked and looked for ways to remove whiteheads and blackheads and this is seriously the only way. all the washes might make it better for a little bit, but it comes back.
then there are the nose strips.. biore has good ones.

after getting out of the shower, before even completly drying off, gently squeez them out. Like a home facial, but stop as soon as your pores tighten up...

pop it. My dermy says u can pop a pimple when its white. take a clean safety pin,(rub with alchol, rubbing alcohol) and just poke the pimple enough to open it up and then squeeze. it may be painful, but it will work.do it until it bleeds, and to avoid a scab, hold toilet paper to it until it stops bleeding.
