Your question reminds me of a good movie, the Devils Advocate with Pacino and K. Reeves. Pacino states that God only had a good publicist. That the supposed “truth” of a final battle cannot be foretold by anyone, it has not yet happened and Satan is still forming his battle plan. To answer the question, I believe most people would turn toward Satan if God were to be defeated. Faith is nothing more than reassurance for eternity. Personally, I would be amazed if any battle would ever exist. I feel it more possible that these verses speak of an ancient battle between God (Christians) and Romans (Pagans). It is not a forthcoming issue. The Bible is like an old-fashioned version of the History Channel.
