Why do some people have so much hatred towards atheists?

I saw this: "Why do some people have so much hatred towards christians?" Where the poster was a Christian.

Well, here's my question turning the tables. And where I am actually an atheist.

Christians do experience hatred unfortunately. But so do atheists. Why the latter is my question? I'm curious to know what the answers are to this one.

I'm not an atheist, but the christians here seem to lump me in with you guys because I sure as hell ain't one of them either.

The christians hate everyone who doesn't believe what the christians tell other people about themselves.

If you don't buy into their lies designed to control you, you are evil and therefor deserving of their hatred.

They know this because they read it in their bible. And if it is in their bible, it is the truth, because their bible says that their bible is a true book right there in their bible.

What more proof could you possibly need that you are pre-selected by their god to be hated by them?

They hate you because they fear you may be right. And further, you may infect others.

So much of what has become Christianity is based upon fear: mostly fear of going to Hell if the Great White God on the Throne judges you to be an unrepentent sinner.

So all their lives they may preach love, but most of their spiritual lives is built around venerating the crucifixion and blood of Christ. Look at how well Mel Gibson's "Passion" did. Pretty gorey snuff film. This is not a gentle faith, not an accepting of difference faith. This is a kill the infidels faith. We saw it as soon as they got power in Rome.

So anyone who does not fear the wrath of God, who thinks freely for himself, who questions their belief system is a cancer in their midst. Pretty soon others, maybe their children, will look around and ask the same questions. Why did Jesus wither the fig tree, Daddy? And if they read the Old Testament, the blood and gore there is miles deep. So, shut up with the atheism around Christians. You are a wolf among the fold of sheep. Their lord is a good shepherd.

Pretty comforting until you realize what shepherds eventually do to sheep. Mutton, anyone?

a million: to the 1st answerer, provide me my call decrease back, I had it first. 2: that isn't something yet an attack. 3: i do no longer HATE religious people or faith. 4: My anger stems from the religious view factor that all people could be in basic terms like them. a: Intolerance b: Displayed hatred for all people who would not think of as they do. c: GET OUT OF OTHERS BEDROOMS d: stop knocking on my door. e: i ought to bypass on continuously here, yet i think of you get the factor. 5: My anger isn't in basic terms directed at christians, they only happen to be a majority the place I stay.

I hate no one and I am a christian, my father-in-law was raised atheist and I love him as much if he was a christian. If you live an honest and descent life you are just as good as a christian. You can not worry about what other people think as long as you are happy with your life. That is exactly how my father-in-law is, he's caring and giving and the nicest person you could ever meet, oh yes he is also the most honest person I have ever met. I know alot of so called Christians that are the meanest most cold people I have ever met. They are called "hypocrites."

I do not hate atheist. I hate the fact that you do not know God as your saviour. I pray that you will find Him before it is too late. A christian is not supposed to judge you. We are to tell you about Him and then you make your own decision. If you choose to continue as an atheist, then I am supposed to depart company with you. This is so that I won't get weak. It has nothing to do with being mean or judgmental. It is my way of belief.

Well, if they were "good" chistians they wouldn't ever hate anyone because the bible tells them to love thy neighbor. More to the point I feel the answer is obvious. Christians that hate must do so because their puny little minds don't allow room for anything else. Sad really, it certainly doesn't make a great advert. for organized religion.

Beacuse they dont believe in God .Did you know that the two most major causes of all wars are RELIGION and difference of political vieww . We each are given a FREE will. We choose either to serve God or no God. I have to respect your God given right but as for me i will serve God .Happy new Year and may God Bless.

I personally do not hate atheists, but religious folks most likely "dislike" their lack of faith when compared to the fact that the christians often hold their faith very dear to them.

Both groups seem hated by some, but it seems that only atheists are not supposed to be felt sorry for over that fact...everyone is supposed to feel sorry for the poor Christians though...oh woe is them...

Atheism is contrary to the idea of Christian faith. The idea is threatening to them. Also, some Christians are taught that Atheists are agents of the devil.
