It's been nearly since months since the breakup and I still think about him WAY too much. He really hurt me, yet I also feel hurt that he's not contacting me (WTF...well...attempting to contact me. I wouldn't answer if he did and he knows that)... How do I recover from this? Why do I have to keep reminding myself that he's a piece of ****?

We don't idealize them -- it's just that we don't like the sudden change we're made to go through when a supposed partner leaves, even if he really made us unhappy. We like the nice comforting thought that for better or worse, we have someone to go back to in the evenings after work -- we are not lonely.

My partner was an a**hole. He was never nice to me. Yet when he left me (well, I made him do it), I still hoped (for nearly six months) that he would call up and apologize and we'd live happily ever after. Then the rational part in me woke up and told me people never change completely and if our values didn't match, we were totally incompatible.

I never think about him anymore except when I am upset and want to reiterate to myself the major mistakes I made in my life. But the feeling passes over in 20 minutes flat. ;)

It seems that this guy and you had shared precious memories together.

Those memories are the ones hurting you since you always get a feeling that these things would never happen again. And you missed those good old days.

You are getting used to the sudden change that occured little by little that's why you feel bad of the loss...so if those memories keep haunting you, you won't appreciate the changes...

Don't worry, you'll recover. You just have to set your mind in something else.

Try to go out with your friends, do some activities that won't remind you of him

It's not the end of the world to let one person ruin everything
