I have to have the Fisher Price Starlight Papasan swing/cradle.

The Starlight Papasan Cradle Swing provides soothing swinging variety for your baby. Not only does it swing front to back like a traditional swing, but it also has a gentle side-to-side motion like a cradle swing. This cozy nest-like seat comfortably cradles your baby in soft, multi-textured materials. A sweet mobile overhead has three plush stars that float up and down and rotate. There is also a dome overhead which projects a starlight show above baby onto the canopy that surrounds the seat.

The Starlight Papasan Cradle Swing has two music modes and two sound effects. There are 16 songs total: eight daytime songs, eight nighttime soothing songs and two long play sounds. Mom can customize baby's swinging experience by choosing motion only, music only, mobile only or any other combination. There are six soothing speeds which work in swing or cradle mode and a bead bar on the feeding tray.

The swing and my TV monitor. I loved the baby swing because my daughter wouldn't sleep anywhere but there for the first few months and I love the TV monitor because I got it on sale at walmart for $50 and it makes me feel so much better now that I can see her in her crib at night. Oh and I can't forget - my mother in law bought this Exer- Saucer for my baby. She LOVES it! Its got toys all around the edges and there is a seat in the middle. My daughter loves to sit in it and play with her toys and bounce in it-it's too cute and it's great for me because if I have to run into the next room for a second I know she is safe.

Baby Einstien videos, music, and a saucer (circular seat with toys around top). You will need moments for yourself to put in a load of laundry or start supper. Put the baby in the saucer (at 3-4 months) and turn on a baby Einstien video. My daughter was fascinated with them. They are eductional, helping them devolop in many different areas, and it gives you 20-30 minutes. The music is great for them to sleep by. Good luck!

Nightgowns with the drawstring on the bottom. We got Carter's and they usually come in 2 packs. Get as many as you can. They're sooooo convenient for diaper changes. The last thing you want is 50 snaps on your baby's clothing for the 4AM diaper change!

Loved the pillow that goes around your middle to help support the baby when breastfeeding, also a baby swing with timer- my kids loved this too. I loved the baby monitor that i could carry around with me, and kids adored fish motion light on the side of their crib.

i always get my friends one of those "in the womb" bears... that make the womb noise. that sound is so soothing to me and it can really calm down a newborn. also diapers. and i also try to buy clothes for an older baby. most people only buy newborn stuff but babies can only wear that for so long. i usually buy two three month outfits, two six month outfits and two nine month outfits to give a starting point. good luck with your shower!!

at my baby shower, i got this playpen, that was a three-in-one kinda deal. it had a changing table, a bassinet swing, and the playpen all in one. i used the heck out of this thing! one more thing, this really helped me out. when the baby comes home from the hospital, she'll love a water vaporizer. it will help her sleep better, and breathe easier!

Bouncy chair. Ohhhh thank god for that bouncy chair. We would feed our baby in this chair and at one point it was the only way to get our baby to sleep. I highly recommend one. The new ones now vibrate and play music.
