Keep it simple. Tell him you dont speak much spanish, but that you would like to see him.
"Hola, como estas? Quieres hacer algo conmigo esta noche?"
But having the interpreter on the date sounds like no fun...

be a little subtle and specific .... like ask him, but do it between topics, if he wants to hang out or something .... " Quiere tomar cafe en Starbucks por un rato?" (wanna get coffee in starbucks for a little bit). then take it from there. dont pretend u know spanish cuz he would be grateful if you could teach him english!!!!

Obviously you could get a translator to help you. But then what about the date? Are you going to bring the translator along?

You've gotta say: "Te gustaría salir conmigo a..." or "Te gustaría ir conmigo a..." or "Querés ir conmigo a..."
That means in English: "Would you like to go with me to...." or "Would you like to go out with me to...."

I advise that you don't go out with this guy if you guys don't even share a common language. =)
