I think this forum gets that question at least once a day.

A lot of people will tell you "you can't say which one is the best, they are all the best at what they do." But if you cut through the PC crap, SEALs are the best.

It will be atleast a 4 year contract. I'm not sure what you mean by "drop out", but if you get an honorable discharge you will still be considered a SEAL, Green Beret or Marine. You'll just be a "former" one. All of these groups have drop out rates of 70-80%, so you have to be highly motivated to make it through. Ask yourself why you want to do this. Do you want to fight for your country? Or do you just want some training so you can make big bucks as a contractor? If you are just in it for the money, you are better off finding another job, because you will probably not make it through the training.

Someone above mentioned Delta Force. Yea they are awesome but you can't get in Delta without experience so that won't happen in less than 4 years.
As far as the guy talking about Special Forces in Canada, whats the point?

You forgot about the Special Forces components of the Air Force. They comprise of:

1. Combat Control:

The job of the Combat Control Apprentice is to set up assault zones in remote and sometimes hostile areas. To ensure that you can perform your job anywhere at anytime, you will receive training in precision parachuting, fast roping, rappelling and amphibious techniques. Survival training in various climates enables a Combat Control Apprentice to function under the most demanding conditions. The unique qualifications of Combat Control make them the farthest reaching communications, command and control asset for both ground and aircraft commanders.

2. Pararescue

When an injured soldier is down, the Pararescue Apprentice must penetrate hostile areas to rescue and recover the survivor. Specializing in Air Force and Special Operations Combat Search and Rescue/Personnel Recovery, Pararescuemen provide specialized aerospace rescue and recovery support for NASA’s Space Shuttle flights. This career field is restricted to males. Pararescuemen are certified scuba divers and skilled in surface water operations – both scuba and amphibious. They are trained Combat Medics and certified Emergency Medical Technician Paramedics (EMT-P). As a Pararescue Apprentice, you will also learn to perform emergency medical procedures in the field to correct life-threatening conditions.

The training track to make it through PJ/CCT school is incredibly challenging to say the least. PJs and Combat Controllers maintain their own website that contains all the info you could ever want to find out about what they do. There is also a forum you can post to in order to ask any specific questions you may have: www.specialtactics.com

You can also find out more about them from www.airforce.com and www.dosomethingamazing.com

The first steps to making it into these fields are seeking out a local Air Force recruiter to see if you can pass the ASVAB and then successfully passing the P.A.S.T test. The P.A.S.T test will see if you have the physical abilities necessary to qualify for these career fields. Tons of info on this test can be found on specialtactics.com

To answer some of your questions above:

The minimum contract for the Air Force is 4 years. PJ/CCT recruits are eligible for a $12000 bonus upon completion of the course.

I don't know what you mean about "drop out and still have your title".

The washout rate for PJ/CCT school is VERY HIGH. I've seen flights of 70 applicants wash down to only 4 guys making it through the first indoc course.

Yes, you will be insanely marketable in the private sector but few PJ/CCTs choose to leave after they become certified because they love the job so much!

They're all really damn good. But you did forget one, Army's Delta Force. They're the ulitimate kick *** army spec forces. Minimum contract you're probably looking at 4 years, provided you make it through the training. Most of the dropping out occurs during training. If you drop out after completing all the training and get the designator, you lose the designator (MOS) and the right to use the title. I could be wrong, if I am guys, please feel free to correct me.

Force recon has a fierce reputation

There is no way to answer your question because people who get into the special forces are exceptional and would not even think about that.
I am telling you right now, there is not a single sane person who want to go kill human beings to get experience. the majority of special forces are there to serve, not to kill. Although, I personally know people who joined to kill, and now have mental problems and have come to their senses. Whether or not you think so, you will never like killing somebody, and you will regret it if you go in with that mindset.
The people who make the best soldiers are those who can take stress and have the mental ability to deal with blood on their hands.

Army. They're HOT. Good luck getting in. Recruiters sometimes make it sound like you can easily get in and do what you want, but it's a little tougher than just saying you want in. Best of luck to you!

Personally, it's Semper Fi all the way! Go down to the recruiter's office. That's the most accurate info you're going to get. Good luck.
