First of all i can see where it gets confusing . Rice and beef is about the same thing you would get in dog food so that is all right but the kind of human food they mean is like chinese chicken or leftover salad or and sugar or sweets. those u should definetly not give. those are just some examples but i think u can determine wats good and wats not for your dog. You should try to feed your dog dog food but when it comes to human food, make the best judjment from your poinion

There is a raw food diet for dogs. Dry dog food hasn't been around forever. A good, healthy raw food diet is complex because it needs to provide balanced nutrition, and human grade food is much healthier than the crap they can use in kibble. Maybe the dog is getting vitamin supplements or other ingredients you don't know about. It sounds like it's working out for your mom's friend. I know I'd feed my pooches a raw diet, but I don't have that kind of time. I wouldn't fix what isn't broken.

"People food" is perfectly healthy for dogs. The reason vets tell you not to feed your dog table scraps is because they usually only get the bits of fat & leftovers - not a balanced diet.
If you are willing to do a little research on what foods and supplements your dog needs, preparing his food yourself is an excellent way to be sure he is getting good quality food.
Many dog foods actually contain by-products which MAY be contaminated meat, gound hooves or feathers, diseased meat, meat from euthanized animals, etc. This is MUCH worse than "people food" for your dog! Additionally, many dog foods are primarily grains or cereals. This is OK for dogs in relatively small amounts, but dogs are meat eaters - their bodies need protein to grow and maintain in a healthy manner.
It is possible for a dog to live a healthy life on a vegetarian diet, but only with careful selection of good quality protein sources -- not mostly corn and grains which contain very little protein.
I have a lot of information on pet foods - cat & dog - and what you may be feeding your pet, what your pet needs, on my website. www.NutritionForPets.us The site is a retail site, but if you click on the HealthyPetNet Products link, there is a very good short video and a couple of articles about dog & cat food quality & ingredients in general that are very informative on the Home page.

It can be okay to a point. bland healthy human food is normally alright. but fattening salty or sweet food can have some of the same affects on them that it does on us, getting fat, diabetic, and heart problems, then you also have the problem that they could start to refuse to eat any dog food, all they'll want is human food. When they can't get that they can turn agressive and sneaky taking stuff from kids or off the table where ever they can get to. There are also human foods that are toxic to animals a big one being chocolate.

Don't go overboard and it should be alright to give a dog human food. Again, moderation is key, and seeing as rice and beef are dog food ingredients the dog in question is kinda eating dog food. (just as individual ingredients) ;)
P.S. As said before, don't let any dog have chocolate.

Depends....regular table scraps...no. Human grade food that you purchased and specifically made for your dog...yes. In fact my dogs get a raw meaty bone all the time! Raw fed dogs are known to be more healthy.

its okay for dogs to eat cuts of lean meat. like chicken and beef and turkey. but its not safe for them to eat table scraps never ever. they shouldn't have chocolate, onion, grapes. you can actually make your own dog biscuits. i have a recipe for one. most dogs are lactose intolerant. also they can't have candy and processed sugars and foods. just think about it this way if they could eat it in the wild ,they can probably eat it now. some dog foods are very unhealthy(like alpo)

Rice and beef are pretty much what is in a decent dog food. I think it is more about the junk food and bread that isn't good for the dog.
