When I first saw that FOURTEEN YEARS AGO!! it was a grasshopper with a wooden leg kicking seeds out of a pickle.
Come on now, get something less ancient. Changing the words a bit doesn't improve it.

If it's a brass monkey, it doesn't have a wooden leg...... and it can't spit out seeds because it's not a real monkey and isn't alive, it's just an object since it's made of brass.
