The typical antiacne products work by cleansing the skin and removing dirt from the skin pores. Any product that is a pore cleaner will help with your acne problem.
Neutrogena is one such cleanser: http://www.neutrogena.com/

Acne can be a result of an allergy in which case you need to see a dermatologist, but usually in teenagers it is not allergies, but simple dirt. However, a good dermatologist can help you and they can even perscribe a good and strong medication that you could use.

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleanser
"A cleanser is a facial care product that is used to remove make-up, dead skin cells, oil, dirt and other types of pollutants from the skin of the face. This helps to unclog pores and prevent skin conditions such as acne.

Many people use a cleanser once or more times a day as part of their skin care regime together with a toner and moisturiser.

Using a cleanser to remove dirt is considered to be a better alternative to bar soap or another form of skin cleanser not specifically formulated for the face for the following reasons:

Bar soap has a high pH (in the area of 9 to 10), and skin's natural pH is 5.5. This means that soap can change the balance present in the skin to favor the overgrowth of some types of bacteria, exacerbating acne.

Bar cleansers in general, soap or not, have thickeners that allow them to assume a bar shape can clog pores, leading (once again) to acne.

Using bar soap on the face can remove natural oils from the skin that form a barrier against water loss. This causes the sebaceous glands to subsequently overproduce oil, which may again lead to clogged pores. Conversely, in order to prevent drying out the skin, many cleansers incorporate moisturisers.
Many users would recommend a cleanser that is gentle, non-irritating, thoroughly cleanses skin and allows the eyelids to be washed without hurting. Additionally cleansers that splash away without the use of a washcloth may be preferred as cloths can harbour bacteria."

Another area to concentrate on is the natural oils in your skin. If you work at removing them with a cleanser then that will help cut down on the dirt that gets stuck on your face.

If you have serious acne then you might want to visit the doctors or a spa and get a Microdermabrasion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microdermabrasion

Jilly J uses toothpaste for the Sodium laureth sulfate that is in it. This chemical can help cleansers foam up, but if you are sensitive to it then it can only increase your problems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_laureth_sulfate. Rumors that it can cause cancer are considered to only be an urban legend and false by the FDA.

Hi,
if its at the point where its painful, you may want to look into seeing a dermatologist. I had acne when i was a teen too, i tried everything but in the end the only thing that helped was a medication that i was prescribed.
All the stuff on the market is good for a few spots here or there, but you may actually have a skin condition that you need help with.
In the meantime, always use oil free natural products (thursday plantation does a great tea tree moisturiser available at chemist), or cetaphil face wash is always redommended. Try not to touch or squeeze your face, because it does cause scarring in the longterm.
Most importantly, don't allow yourself to feel ugly, this is a short term problem that most people encounter at some point and inevitbaly grow out of.

I found that toothpaste works well. Another product that I've found is really good is Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment, you apply it like 3 times a day and it helps get rid of your acne quick. Don't pick at your pimples! If you do your going to leave a scar that will be much worse than having a pimple for a few days! IF your worried about feeling ugly, use cover-up, find the tint that matches your skin color and apply it with a make up pad. If your acne is really bad go to a dermatolagist and they can give you medicine that will help you personally rather than products that help a variety of people.
Good luck!

I have an acne cure that has won me the best answer three times. Each time, the person said it worked great. I'll copy and paste it below.

Use a hot compress on it, and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.
