I have always prayed through my mind, thinking. Do I have to pray talking? Can I just pray through my mind, speak to Jesus/God through that way?

You can think, whisper, speak, sing, or shout your prayers.

Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God:
+ In praise of his glory
+ In petition for some desired good
+ In thanksgiving for a good received
+ In intercession for others before God

Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church.

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene)

But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1)

With love in Christ.

God hears all your prayers, silent or aloud. Sometimes prayers are private and personal between you and God. Sometimes those are the ones with the most feeling. You are in your private space when praying silently no matter where you are. The thing that is important to remember though is that the Devil can't hear your thoughts. When you pray aloud, he hears your prayers to God and you knock him down furhter than he is! So sometimes you need to knock him down a notch or two lower than he is normally! Keep up the good work!

Yes, absolutely. In fact, that's how I usually pray most of the time, as do millions of other people.

I usually only pray "out loud" when I'm at Mass or taking part in some other public prayer.

There is a time to pray ,without uttering a word.
There are also times to open up/God hears both, when you
approach Him, thru Jesus Christ.
When a Giant comes against you /Trouble /always go after Him with your mouth open/Remember David, the Giant was talking trash to David.David with a loud voice ran at Him& told Him --You are Dead Man.

You can pray silently without speaking! God can hear your thoughts and prayers!
Sometimes it is good to pray out loud but is not necessary to having your prayers answered!

Prayer is from the heart - therefore can be spoken from the heart by thought, word, in print by journaling, song.......it is the fact that you are making contact with Him that matters to Him.

Afterall, He has a plan for all of us but does long to hear from us....He loves us as no other can and wishes to hear the desires of our hearts and concerns of our minds and body.

John 3:16 says it all!

If you pray from your heart, God will hear you. The heart communicates with God in a way that cannot be uttered by our mouths.

You never have to speak aloud for the FATHER to hear you. HE "can do all things". Read, study, and pray on a regular basis to keep yourself on track. Have a great week!

Yes, It doesn't matter whether you talk or use your mind. Think about the people who can't talk, and God still listens to them. He knows what we think, feel, and do. There is no way to hide from God.
