ok im not so good in asking questions so they make sense to other people like it makes sense in my head... sorry :/
when you hear about people who have got "saved" by Jesus (Christianity, God) and how they chnaged and their life is so much better(than how it usd to be). why would you not want to trust in God? see what happens, see what people who believe are talking about? (and yes i know you can switch it around) and i didnt mean why would you not want to believe in something that says its the truth, cause alot of things say they are the truth. i meant what i said up there ^.and Einstein was a scientist and he believed God was real, so if you think that you need scientifical proof etc, etc, idk? Einstein didnt, or he had some, but didnt share it with anyone.... . all i know is that God changed me when no one else could and i just want others to experience what i have. and again sorry if this affends you or is negative to you in any way. just want to know what people think.

you could also say why dont you believe in being a jew or buddhist etc... because when you see the differences maybe (to me) one makes better sense.

Ok.... here are a few items.
Einstein believed in a god, but not anything near the God of Christianity. Einsteins's God was impersonal and didn't answer prayer. Read a bit more about him and you'll understand that soon enough.
As far as believing in something that was good for someone else being good for me, that just doesn't work when it comes to God. I've had experiences of miracles and personal experience, but I'm not Christian. So, why would I wish to believe in your God, and abandon my own?
You might offer your experiences, but I have my own. The next thing that most Christians offer is "But do you want to take the chance that you'll go to hell?". My response is "Why would I wish to believe in a god who's only motivation is a threat of eternal torment?"
What do you have to offer me then, to show that your God is a loving God? Mine answers prayer. Mine demonstrates love. What does Christianity have to offer that my religion does not?
Basically, I have something that (in simplistic terms) makes me feel better. (It actually goes much much further than that). It's not Christianity. So, what does this mean?

ATHEIST
Sorry it’s so long:
First off, Einstein was more or less agnostic (or deistic). He said "I do not believe in a personal god” and he also said "I do not believe that people survive their own death" - I'm paraphrasing, but if you look it up you'll find it's true.
Listen, you got your answer before. People explained it to you. Just because it's a pretty story, doesn't make it true.
Think about it. Why don't you believe in the tooth fairy? It's a good story. You get money for your teeth. Why don't you believe it? Because it isn't true. It sounds ridiculous to you.
Besides, Christianity is not pretty. Have you read the old testament, and I'm just not comfortable with a god casting people into hell just because they don't believe in him. That’s not fair. Some of those people are good people.
Oh, also, if I'm so happy with atheism, why should i switch?
sheila l, it aint gonna happen

I am a Secular Humanist, and I respect other people and try not to do anything that would harm them or make them feel bad. When something goes wrong, I blame myself. When something goes right, I congratulate myself, because I know that I made it happen, through my own actions and the way in which I have interacted with other people. There is no sin, no God to thank, no eternal reward or punishment. It is liberating, and empowering, and since abandoning religion I have felt so much more alive and in control of my life that I would never go back to my old beliefs. So...I did do something that makes me feel better. I stopped believing, and have never been happier.

You could use the same argument for cocaine. It makes you feel better. Good idea??
And you might want to read a little more about Einstein. He was somewhere between an atheist and a deist. He certainly didn't believe in a personal god like Christians

Hi sheila,
I believe that you have a great story to tell your friends and you should. This is inspirational and makes so much sense. I also have a story to tell. It is much different from yours. Each of us should share those stories with the ones that we care about. Einstein was quite weird and he could never have had the kind of effect on "normal people" that you and I can make. GOD has given each of us our own abilities and they are given so that we can be an assett to others. I hope that you share your gift with others in your home town. Have a great week!!

But I do believe in something that makes me feel better.
It just isn't the something that tells me I am a miserable piece of crap doomed to hell unless I immediately give all my rational faculties over to jesus and go forth into the world and save everyone else.
So don't you really mean, why don't I believe in something that makes you feel better?

Because some of those people that say thier lives changed for the better when they became christians are bold faced liars. PS Einstien was a pantheist Pagan.

Ok. Better question -
So using that logic - why not become a Buddhist or a Jew or a Scientologist (look how happy Tom Cruise is) ?
It takes a lot more than that ...
