The presence of lawns everywhere is a serious ecological problem. Lawns require lots of fertilizer, the use of gas-operated cutting equipment, the generation of waste, the use of pesticides, etc.. for what?

Try to organize a group of people to raise awareness and suggest alternatives in your neighborhoods against lawns. Show houses with nice flower gardens in front. Show low maintenance rock gardens...etc..

You are to be congratulated for your willingness to take action! I have a terrific suggestion. The South Lakes Wild Animal Park in the United Kingdom is a terrific organization that is directly involved in wildlife conservation (be careful, however, of organizations claiming to be a "wild animal park" as in reality these are nothing more than poorly run private zoos). The South Lakes Animal Park is able to convert used printer cartridges into cash for wildlife conservation. As you may know, most used cartridges are simply thrown out, but by sending these to this organization badly needed funds are raised. You can find out more details by going to: http://www.wildanimalpark.co.uk/education/recycling.
