Instead of bringing mankind a cure for heart disease and cancer, he cursed a fig tree. Instead of ending birth defects and infant mortality, he filled a pig with demons. Instead of ending world hunger and illiteracy, he conjured up a jug of wine.
What's up with that?

You're missing the point. Jesus had the gift of omnipotence; why did he waste it performing such frivolous miracles in his short life?

So basically what you're saying is that he'll do things to comfort people, but stop just short of seriously doing something that would keep billions of people from living lives in agonizing and excruciating pain?

To the last person who answered:
Asians do get heart disease, and birth defects, and cancer. You're clearly very ignorant.

Hmmmm.........let's see, cursing a fig tree or curing disease. God like our president should rethink matters.

Why do you have so much anger towards this man?
The bible gives instructions on what we are to eat and if we stuck to it we wouldn't have alot of the illnesses we have today. Case in point; the Asian race doesn't have heart disease, diabetes, cancers, and a lot of 'western' diseases because they eat a healthier diet. Not processed junk like Americans do.
How can you compare bitching at a fig tree when it should have fruit and didn't (he was very hungry and tired) to ending birth defects and infant mortality?
And commanding those demons to 'be inside the pig' gave a man his soul back! No comparison.
It is clear to me that you are very angry and disappointed at Jesus and you are looking for reasons to distance yourself from him.
He's a pretty understanding guy, so do this;
Go some where private, where you can scream at the top of your lungs and tell him exactly what you think of him.
I've done it and trust me, I was VERY graphic! I got an answer to my dilemma and it changed me forever.
Be Brave and Do It! Double Dogg Dare You!

Because of Him the Holy Spirit can dwell in man and change man one man at a time. Truly that is a miracle. He cursed the fig tree that didn't bear fruit as a way to show us that if we do not bare the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He cast the demons out of a person into the pig to help the person. He was at a wedding and was celebrating. It is good to celebrate special occasions. And when we are dealing with life's problems you've mentioned before He provides us with comfort and peace and sometimes healing. When the world as we know it ends then sickness and death will as well.

Jesus came to be a perfect example ...and he knew that he had to be that example for us because he wasn't going to be with us always ...so yes we have the word,,...but the word by itself can kill instead of heal..it took the living word to be an example to us ..of how to ..how to live ..pray ..walk..talk before the Father...if Jesus would have come and waved a magic wand ...where would we all be...
If you have kids..or know someone that has kids..you know they learn by example..and not just what is in a book ..but what they see ..hear...
we are the children of God and we needed an example..and Jesus is/was that example..
In everything he did or said there was reveletory knowledge...to help with all areas of life ..even marriage.

you are so silly. The diseases you mention are pschosomatic. Thes can be healed today the same way He cured them then. While I do believe there are some restrictions even God lives by Jesus had enough to complete His mission and He did so.

Well we're supposed to solve those problems ourselves I guess. And he wasn't the type to run around being David Blaine, not what he stood for.
