For the same reason that Jesus is never shown as the olive skinned man with short hair and no beard that real history dictates he would have been. It's all part of christian marketing. It's whatever fills the pews.

They were not all white. Watch it again you will see. Also, the movie was not written in Arabic. It was Aramaic, Greek, Latin, and Hebrew.
Middle East is a multi colored nations. You will find white, brown, black, Asian. Palestinian, which now is Israel was the center of traveler from all around. There were greek, romain, Jewish, etc. and the language they spoke at that time was Aramaic.

for the same reason that white people always played the Indians in the Lone Ranger. Cause there was only one Indian actor and he was booked.
He was too busy playing the big indian in "One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest"

They are speaking Latin.

Didn't you read the bio on the movie. The critics all said he got it wrong and it should have been Greek, which was the Language of the area.

And ALL the actors had to learn their lines in Latin too. It wasn't dubbed.

Gibson chose Latin because he's probably a die hard Roman Catholic who may have grown up with Latin masses.

I am glad that you watched it. That is the first step. I have no idea why anything is done in Holywood. They own half of America. Why don't you buy a portion of the other half and cast the next Passion Movie? Have a great week!

I don't know. Maybe the studios couldn't find any Muslim actors or actresses who were willing to do a movie about Christ. Think about it from a practical rather than a prejudicial point of view, and you'll have your answer.

Because they all had to be part of the Opus Dei cult (it is officisally classified by cult awarness groups as a cult) to be part of the movie (producers, actors, director.....any position that could be filled by an Opus Dei member was). Besides Clarence Thomas and a few others there are no high prominent Opus Dei members that are not white.

I find it ironic that most non denominational Christians supported this movie in droves because they were directly giving money to a group who's stated belief is that anyone besides them are going to hell and that all Christian religions including the Catholic Church post Vatican II need to be destroyed and they need to control Christianity and bring it back to the prior reformation authoritarian, latin, roman catholic empire.

It is ironic that fundementals in their feverent persuit of proving theirs is the only correct way to be are fueling thier own destruction by supporting another group that feels that way.

Sorry........I have issues with Opus Dei

Earl they were speaking mostly aramaic in the movie and Opus Dei members are NOT die hard Catholics, they are diehard Opus Dei members. They have threatened more then once to go over to the Eastern Orthodox Churches (wish they would) if the Catholic Church did not move the way they want it too.

You can give as many thumbs down to this answer as you want it does not make it less true.

the movie was directed at a typically white audience. since people identify most closely with others who "look" like themselves, you see this a lot! in all cultures.

Not enough famous Middle Eastern actors in the states, I would imagine. If they didn't have big name actors, it would probably be largely ignored and fade into obscurity. Ridiculous, if you ask me.
