Yes it is child endangerment! You never leave any child in a car alone for any amount of time, anything can happen to that child in 7 minutes! I would say you probably would have a chance in court just get all the proof that you can.

Yes it is child endangerment. You should never leave a child in the car for any period of time. Especially a 2 year old. Besides the chance of kidnapping, in the hotter days the child could die from the temperature rising (which may not be an issue now, but would be later)

AT 2 1/2 your son shouldn't be anywhere alone. He's only 2! When my little sibling was young, we let her sit in the car while we washed it. We were right there, and still she managed to lock the door and start crying. We couldn't get her out for an hour until the car man came and unlocked the door for us, because we left the keys inside the car to let her have some airconditioner. She cried and cried, and didn't understand how to unlock the door. And she was three.

It's certainly not safe. Someone could steal the vehicle with the kid inside (which has happened before... in Ohio, by the way).

I think you have the opportunity to at least get his carelessness on the record. It's hard when it's just you and the kid and you need to get gas, so I can see where he's coming from, too. He probably just doesn't know any better (men aren't really capable of thought in this category), but at least you can get it into the court documents to use later if you need it.

I hope that's good enough to get something done about him. You should never leave kids in the car. Now, if he was only pumping the gas and paid the pump, then I don't think you have a case. But if he went inside and was in there for 7 minutes, I think you have something. But then again, I don't know the law.....maybe that's okay in Ohio.

I don't know what the law is but I have a 8 and a 9 year old and I could not let them sit in the car for that long, Not even taking into account what they would do to each other =) I don't trust people and I certainly don't know who is in the other cars/ standing around etc. good for you for looking out for your son.

Okay, before you read my answer, I'm not defending him. But, honestly, I hope your PI has way more dirt than leaving the child in the car for a few minutes. Seriously. Yes, it's wrong. And, yes, it should be addressed. But a real life judge isn't going to refuse daddy all his visitation rights for this minor poor judgement.

Children should not be left alone in a car period. 7 minutes in a car in blazing heat can KILL a child.

Yes, it´s illegal of him to do that. It´s also illegal for you to sit in your car and watch it happen AND then not talk to him about it. It sounds as if you have other issues with him...are you willing to keep putting your child at risk just so you can get footage and win over custody?

in australia it is illegal to leave a child unattended in a car. Go to the police find out the legalities of it and get yourself a lawyer
