The spirit is there whether you believe in him or not. No one can take you away from God. Only you can make such a choice. Pain often makes us head in different directions but he always finds a way to bring us back into the fold. Doesn't matter what religion you are. The Spirit simply is and nothing can change that. Don't worry about the one who appears to have moved away from God because of thoughts or ideas of a religion. They are experiencing lessons and a different path then you can imagine but we all end up in the same place :-)

Nobody can be lead away from God because there is no place they can take you that God cannot find you.
Of course, because many Christians are selective in their reading and interpretation, they believe that because they call themselves 'Christians' that makes them so. Jesus' teachings against acting like the 'Pharisees' was symbolically intended: to be a 'Pharisee' or 'hypocrite' or 'pagan' meant acting in such a manner, not being socially designated as such. Anyone who follows teaching contrary to Christ, no matter what they call themselves, are ultimately denying Christ.
Christ identifies himself, and his followers, with being 'samaritans'. That means people who act like the Samaritan in the parable: who serve faithfully and completely those in need irregardless. When Christians spread dissension, hatred, guilt, fear, and confusion to their 'brethren', so do the fruits of their labor bear their witness.

A real Christian doesn't, but there are too many impostors today. We live in trying times where it is hard for people to know what to believe. But for a real Christian you only need the Bible promises to believe and if you are a son or daughter of God, then Jesus will lead you so it really doesn't matter about deception; Matthew 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.Matthew 23:26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Here is Jesus talking to ministers in his day about religion as the outside and spiritual as the inside. 2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
But if you are a real Christian here is your promise; John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Certainly what a believer says should be things that help you better understand God and His Word, not to lead you away.
Christians are not perfect, just forgiven, according to His Word.
If a Christian has harmed you by words, charge it to their heads and not their hearts for the intention should have been good.
Comments that Christians share should be from the Word for the opinion of man is just that - the opinion of a man.
May you find the peace for which you seem to search!
God bless!!

brilliant!! you've an open concepts and heart and those features are what I evaluate to be the middle of "christian" teachings. it really is amazingly smug human beings to question yet another's route to the author or the objective one would play in yet another's existence. except we are in detail unsleeping of each and every thing (which no human is) we do not have the right to guage. human beings each and every now and then do exactly not comprehend that they are an party of their faith and how they take care of others reflects on all of an same perception. If one chooses to apply petty hate or anger to make stronger their own philosophy in a given concern, they are going to come upon an same style of negativity. that's popular regulation. thanks for posting this...it became very clean to study.

I think the church as a whole is leading people away from god. I have never seen so many miserable stuck up people in my life. Especially the older women. They say they are of god, but gods does not show through them. I think a true christian should never have to say "I'm of god". It should glow of them and make people come to them.

God asks you to pardon dumb Christians and what fool acts are done in the name of Christianity.
Just look at the lies portrayed by PSEUDO-CHRISTIAN CHEATERS and LIARS to start wars to bring infamy and kill innocents to steal oil.
The day of judgement will not be merciful on greedy and lying Bush.
Amen.
