I depend alot on their childhood ideology and the traditions and religions they grew up aroung. If someone grew up in an all Christian society, they are likely to be Christians.
In some cases though peope chose a religion when going into marriage or if in a crisis and are trying to fnd a "way out".

Many are born into a particular culture, and the religion goes with it.
Others become disillusioned with their religion of origin and choose another.
Anyone can have any religion for the most part.

for myself, a could basically marry a individual who tried their terrific to persist with the Qur'an AND sunna, no longer basically the 5 pillars. There at the instant are not any suitable muslims yet there are people who a minimum of attempt set a sturdy time-honored for themselves. some basically do the least confusing issues and disrespect the others, some flow midway and desire to undertake cultural practices as a replace of a few islamic practices, and a few even deny lots of Islam and that is teachings. that is not that we decide, yet we are meant to seek for a pious spouse which would be a brilliant occasion for ourselves and our babies, and our muslim society as an entire. that is not somewhat that no longer uncomplicated to tell how committed a individual is to their faith, as quickly as you ask some questions and locate out how they spend their time, see how they gown, how they have interplay with others, how they appreciate others, do they spend time on the masjid or do they desire to dangle out with pals in bars..etc etc. Allah judges us all in the tip as to how pious we are and that's as quickly as we incredibly are rewarded (if we deserve so), yet till then we do have a precise to objective to be in the corporate of those we sense are a sturdy occasion to help us in our direction in the direction of God and to no longer stray. peace

my mom was a catholic and then turned to baptist and so of course thats basically how I grew up. there are so many things that are different in just those two, and for me, I mainly agree with what the baptist faith believes over the catholic.
i dont believe saying 10 Hail Mary's will "release" me from my sin so I can keep doing it over and over.
I believe that if you do something wrong, pray for your sin and don't do it anymore. Yes, GOD is a forgiving entity, but how truly sorry can you really be if you keep doing it over, and over, and over, and over.....
