Is the dog drinking and eating? If so, it can't be too bad. they usually have wet noses and sometimes they are dry in winter in the house. If it is really dry , hot and the dog has symptoms of other sorts there is something wrong. But, dogs are warmer than us and they can have dry warm noses and not be real sick, check it often for wetness or not being hot...then make sure it is drinking and make sure it's acting ok. You are the best judge of that. If it's an outside dog, bring it in to make sure for a couple of days. That will put your mind at ease. Make sure liquids are going in. then foo. Then make sure it's going to the bathroom. Until then it can be said that it is or isn't sick. You can give it baby aspirin too. if you think it is running a fever. The other option is the vet. Good luck. Common sense prevails.

Become aware of that a canine's nose stays wet and cold even in bloodless weather when which you can assume that there is not any have got to sweat. The nose is cool on account that it's moist and the consistent evaporation motives it to stay that method. Puppies keep moist secretions by means of their noses due to the fact that it enhances their feel of scent. Given that the nose is wet, scent molecules can better adhere to the nose except they are wiped away via the tongue. This enables the dog to follow scent trails although what they are following used to be using in a automobile! This capacity is fantastic. Some dogs had been bred with big ears and heavy wrinkled skin around the face (blood hounds) to additional increase the collection of scent molecules. The wet nostril is shared with the aid of other animals whose sense of odor is a high-quality survival instrument, whether or not they are the predator or the prey.

It just means that your dog's nose is hot. I mean c'mon what does it mean when your nose is hot and not cold?
I would only worry if your dog start acting in ways your not used to. IE if he's normally an active dog but now only wants to sleep etc. Then take him to the vet.

Not being funny, but he might just be warm and cozy. Was the dog in the house? Was he laying somewhere his nose was covered?
You really need to take your dogs temperature. It should be between the ranges of 99.5 and 102. Obviously you need to do this anally. Make sure you use a lube.
Watch your dog for changes in his mood or eating habits. That is the best sign. Also, do regular check ups with your vet.

Im sorry, but when clients come in with an animal saying that their nose is hot and dry, i just want to send them out the door! The only way to know if your dog has a fever is to take a rectal temp.. the average temp on a dog is 101.5 but can range from 100-102.5 when healthy. Never waste 40 bucks taking your dog to the vet because his nose is hot...

A dry warm nose doesn't necessarily mean the dog's sick. Best to take his temperature.

Someone asked this question just yesterday. A dry nose DOES NOT mean that your dog is sick or is running a fever. the only way to know that your dog is running a fever to to take his or her temperature.
Dogs' noses aren't always wet. Sometimes they're dry, sometimes they're runny, sometimes they're scaly. However, dry noses equal fevers.
Please see the link I attached that discusses dry noses.

Usually a dry, warm nose means that they are sick in some way. A wet, cold nose means they aren't sick.
