I notice anytime an argument between a white person and a black person starts, they always say the N-WORD when things get heated. Why is that? I'm watching "Real World Denver" and it just happened. I was also at the club last weekend and it happened. I'm white, and I have enough self control not to do this, but I find a lot dont. Why is that?

As with the use of other obscenities, the use of such a word, in my opinion, occurs when the person using it has no intelligent comment and chooses to fill in the mental void with words used to degrade or "muscle" his opponent. I also think it's the sign of a coward and shows a general lack of intelligence and an underlying racism. This is my opinion and comes from years of observation. P.S. I'm white.

The Real World is about as Real as the Simpsons. It's sensational TV, and not very realistic. As for the N word, not all white people use it or think of using it. But, from some black people I meet, I feel an intense hatred and racism projected by them onto me that I feel the urge to "fight back." Black people are and have been the victim of intense racism in America, but they have no right to judge every white person. This is why I'm against the N word and anything associated with it. I'm also against the reverse-racist term "Cracker."

I can't tell you how sick I am of hearing people other than black people saying "Black people say the N-Word, why can't I". Let me tell you why you can't. The big reason is how well you know someone. Let me give you an example. If my best friend called me a *****, **** or whatever, I wouldn't be offended, because I know she is kidding. Even if she calls me a name and is only half kidding. You know, like when a friend of yours says you're being a jerk, sometimes you are, but it's okay because it's coming from a friend.

Let me tell you something else, black people don't just go around calling other black people the N-word. If some strange black person called me this I WOULD be offended and I would wonder what made them think it's okay. I also don't like to be called b*tch and I've noticed that a lot of women refer to themselves and friends this way. I find it very offensive and don't even let my friends or family jokingly refer to me as that.

It's all up to what's acceptable to that person. I have known black people who let white people say the N-word around them. They usually aren't refering to that particular black person and they are using it as a 'slang' word for 'person'. I've even heard white people call other white people it.

And for the person who said black people call white people cracker all the time; that's laughable. I can't remember the last time I heard someone call someone a cracker, even in a song. I don't hang out with racist people and racism goes all ways. If you hear your friend saying something racist why are you friends with someone with such views? That is something I have never understood.

The N-Word was adopted by the Black (?) people themselves in the early to mid 19th century and is used a lot when speaking about themselves or others of their race.
The word was not regarded as racist until it was used by Black people (?)
I am in no way trying to be disrespectful to anyone and i am certainly not a racist but the PC brigade say that you can not call anyone by a name that they find disrespectful, what the hell does that mean? A Black man can call another Black man a Ni**er and get away with it but don't let a White man use that word.
I apologize if i have offended anyone by the use of the word Black there is no malice intended to anyone.

People are only offended by the word ****** because of political correctness. In any arguement people will say all sorts of things and it is no worse than saying someone has big ears! It is not a swear word.

How about these ones ...fat or gay
They are just words stop making an issue about them and they'll stop being an issue.
And how dumb you can't even type the word. Must be like that other P word for television show that you can't say on yahoo.

This is where the black people are wrong buddy. You might not realize it but we're so influenced by the media its crazy. kids dont want to listen to their parents and be rebelious, yes we've all had that stage. The new culture is specifically Rap just like back then it was jazz. This is accepted by teens and we all know what they say its all F*** you and this and they call each other or anyone for that matter the N word. Since this is accepted white teens want to act stupid with baggy clothes and talk ebonics but dont realize why. They are hippocritical, DONT YOU DARE SAY THE N WORD, but then they do it. I've heard arguments of thats our word and we can only use it but i've seen puerto ricans, mexicans, and even asians say it infront of a black person but nothing happens. The truth of it is pull up your pants, control your language, and have the sense and ability to be the guy with balls.

In the last 30 + years, I have heard the N word used in conversation less than a dozen times. In every case it was used by a black person (both male and female). I have not heard a white person use the term since the early 70s......

I am not claiming that whote people no longer use the term; but I am not hearing it.

You can't judge life by "Real World Denver." That's a HUGE generalization based off of a show all about people who want attention. I've never once used the "n-word" and never feel the urge.

But the people who do use it are racist jerks and need to be punched in the face. They obviously don't care about other people's feelings. They also seem really immature.

first off, "the real world" is scripted. and MTV looks for people that are likely to get into a fight just to keep people watching that crap.
they have the same mechanics of a "boy band".

as for in the club, did you hear the entire conversation?

I generaly do not use Racial slurs, however i have been called "Cracker" and "Honkey" many times while minding my own business and walking down the street.

quite simply, there is a lot of hatred between Whites, and Blacks in this country. and it is not geting any better. and it will not get any better in the near future.

you're watching a show where I guarantee they knew they had selected someone who would use such language. They hand pick the players to breed the kinds of conflict you see on screen.

Anyway, you answered your own question. You don't use the N-word. You think you know " a lot" who do, but in that club were hundreds who DIDN'T, and just ONE who did. The TV example is moot--they may have even "scripted" that confrontation.

"most" people don't use words they know will get them into fistfights. Most people don't call Women by certain names, either... It just takes a couple of idiots/hotheads to give the impression that "all" people act a certain way.
