My ex fiance and I broke up in June, it was ugly, he met someone in oct and was engaged two weeks later. He has been very mean and hateful ever since our breakup, he has said the cruelest things about me and even refused me to see his daughters (6 & 8) which really hurt them. I have stayed away, but the girls still call, they live with their mom 2 hrs away. Xmas eve they called they wanted to see me, their mom said yes, but i said not unless the dad agrees, he always forbid it before, but he agreed this time, he got a dui recently maybe that turned him nice, he agreed to let me go get them and see them, he was even nice and thanked me, he is nice to me at work now too, i know his fiance now hates me, and she doesn't like him near me, my interest is the girls, they love me and i love them, do i get close to them again, or is he going to turn on me again, why is he suddenly so nice, he has been with her since oct, she hates me, why is he being nice now, should i talk to him.

People r unpredictable, so of course he may change on u again. Or, maybe he is over all the bitter feelings n that is why he's nice now. I think that if u genuinely feel for the lil girls u will take urself out of their lives. Sure they love u but it's not like they don't hv their Mom n the new girlfriend. If u stay too close to them u r asking for trouble. U say the gf hates u so there is no way she is gonna make it easy for u to stay close to the girls. If she puts her foot down after shes the wife, the girls will lose u all over again. Something struck me about the way u had the Mom's permission to see the girls but u insisted on ur ex's permission too. Why?? It seems like after the way he trashed u, u shouldn't care what he thinks. If u still secretly want him bk u need to keep the girls out of it. Don't read too much into that he's nice now, most likely its just that he's over u. And remember that when he starts to hv trouble with the new gf, he will think its very easy to use u to make her jealous. So beware!

Good luck!

Maybe he is being nice because you two are no longer an item and those once strong feelings have somewhat subsided. People move on with their lives, so maybe he has let go of all that anger!

this is a hard situation.... he might be nice because of the fact that his daughters seem to really enjoy your company... he might have seen that on christmas eve when they wanted to see you... so in a way... you are still an important figure to him.... but i've learned a very important thing through my lifetime.... NEVER EVER ASSUME!!!

ask him straight forward why he is doing this??

for example:

Do you realize how mean you were to me a few months ago??

or

Why the sudden change of emotion?

just think of a nice and calm way to ask him.

Best Of Luck To You!!! :)

I think your concern should be kept with yourself. Don't worry about what he is trying to do.

Just understand why you do what you do.

That way feelings are spared. Make sure your heart is in the right place. It really doesn't matter where his heart is.

Perhaps he's getting happier in his life and also understands that it is good for his girls to talk to you.
You could try to talk to him and find out if he will allow the girls to see you and call you.
Hopefully, he is getting interested in what is best for his daughters.

Maybe things aren't so rosy with his new fiancee'? This is so sad for the kids in these situations. Be careful, for their sake.

Wow sounds rough. I'm not sure I would trust someone that had treated me badly.

He might have just gotten over it. People do eventually grow up. Most anyways.
