Guys do tend to sweat badly in the genitals, the same way women do. Women use douche to clean their southern parts, I'm sure they have something out there for men too. Also, buy him some "breathable" underwear, like cotton. The reason they may smell like "mold" (ew lol) is because of the sweat, and secretions (i.e. sweat, and other bodily liquids) smell bad also. If the smell is bothering you during sex, try 'doing it' in the shower. That way, it's still fun, but you don't have to hurt his feelings...
