Not specifically peircing the ear at the top. From what I have heard, if you pierce just the right ear, that is what symbolizes homosexuality. But, it depends on the culture of the area you are local to. Just ask others who are gay, locally to you.
If you want people to know you are gay, just be open and honest about it. You'll have no problem getting the point across.

Well if that is the case then I am in trouble as I have the top of my ear pierced and so does my husband. And to think I never knew he was batting for the other team, or for that matter that I was.
Most of these sayings that get around are just plain stupid. In my day if you wore white socks to school you were gay. I think you should just wear whatever you feel like and not worry about what other people think.

well, it depends on which ear, if it is the left ear, they are straight, but if it is on the right it is a symbolisim of being gay, as for top of the ear only and no bottom, i dont think that means anything but you being a little akward, because you should alway get the bottom done at leat once then you can get the top pierced without it bieng wierd looking

I've never heard that....I have my cartlidge(the top) pierced and I am definately straight! Although if a guy pierces his right ear lobe only then that could mean he is gay...but I've never heard anything about the top.

No. Maybe it meant that 10 years ago, but not now. Just disregard that. Also, when it did mean that, which ear it's in changed from place to place. So, it's a really dumb concept.

Lots of people have the top of their ear(s) pierced. There is supposed to be an area that helps control appetite thus helping with weight loss. (acupuncture site)

this is not true cause there are lots of guys that have their ears pierced and they are not gay. It just makes them look more handsome and noticeable.

No, it is liking the same sex that makes you gay. Ear piercings have nothing to do with it.

Ear piercing is as old as human beings and time. Your sexual orientation will not be at all influenced by what and whether you pierce your ears. It is genetic.
