An architect designs buildings
A civil engineer works with structures including buildings but mostly dams, bridges, tunnels, etc. to design them to be strong and have the capacity to carry the load they are designed to and withstand the environment in which they are placed. A civil engineer may be called in to check whether a building design will work on soft soil and offer design changes that will permit it to work. A civil engineer might work on the expansion of the Panama Canal or the new water tunnels for a city. An architect would design the buildings served by those civil projects. An architect is more of an artist.

An Architect designs structures from the conceptual stage through recommendations for materials to the contractor. A civil engineer, when working with building construction (which is only a small part of what they do) may be asked to consult with certain local government issues and structural component issues. He is usually called upon to verify the Architect's original ideas and possibly make some improvements, when both are in contact and consulting pleasantly.
Unfortunately, contractors and Architects do not always get along, and the contractor (the firm building the building) may ask a civil engineer to make changes to the building in order to reduce costs or otherwise change the project's scope. This change almost always requires the Architect's permission, but it is often obtained forcefully, against the Architect's desires.

A lot of people think that our professions are the same simply because we are in the same Field. building / demolishing a multi storey building, roads, ports, airports and other structures.
But basically,
The architect is concerned mainly on how the structure will look like when its finished, the color of paint, the location / dimension of the rooms, kitchen, Comfort rooms , gate, lawn etc. in short, the make sure the structure would be a good eyesight
while
Civil engineers are more concerned on the strength and stability of the structure, its up to us to design for the sizes of columns, beams, foundations, trusses, etc. we make sure that were buildin a sturdy structure.

Civil Engg..... obviosly but if you have your dad or uncle as an architect then ya architect would be better.. because without someone of your own in the same field it is difficult to get to the top that fast..

Architects have their heads in the clouds, engineers have their feet firmly in the ground. Architects have a vision, and engineers make sure that vision can be build.
Architects tend to be the lead on residential and comerical projects. (Example: Houses, shopping centers, apartments, malls) Civil engineers are retained as sub-consultants for their specific trade.
For typical construction plans of a big project the sheets are arranged by specialty:
A (Architectual Sheets) - Architect
C (Civil Sheets) - Civil Engineer (& Geotechnical Engineer)
S (Structual Sheets) - Structual Engineer (& Geotechnical Engineer)
L (Landscaping Sheets) - Landscape Architect
M (Mechanical Sheets) - Mechanical Engineer
E (Electrical Sheets) - Electrial Engineer
Civil engineers ted to be the lead on industrial and civil projects. (Example: Dams, roads, bridges, water treatment plants, oil refinery) They will have other specific civil sub-consultants, but also can have specialized architectual sub-consultants such as landscape architects. There is no general architect for civil engineer lead projects.
There are more engineering oportuities and they tend to make more per:

Tasks for Civil Engineers
- Analyzes survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
- Computes load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
- Conducts studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess the potential impact of projects.
- Directs construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site.
- Directs or participates in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
Tasks for Architects, Except Landscape and Naval
- Administers construction contracts.
- Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
- Consults with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of structure.
- Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
- Integrates engineering element into unified design

An architect is someone who was too smart for art school but not smart enough for engineering school.
