My 19-month-old daughter has had a fever since Christmas, refuses to eat, is very irritable, and had an anal fissure a few days ago. Is she just teething, or could there be something more serious going on?

She is getting plenty of liquids, thanks for the warnings, though.

Anal fissures can be caused by a dry, hard bowel movement (which she did have a few days ago), or diarrhea, or altered bowel movements...

I recommend taking her to the doctor to make sure. it could just be teething but the anal fissure could mean infection too. if you cant keep the fever down she can get dehydrated more quickly and more problems can occur. keep pouring down the liquids in the meantime.and alternate tylenol and ibuprophen doses.

She needs to see a doctor in the morning. A child shouldn't have a 3 day fever with teething, although they may be irritable. She could have an ear infection, but be unable to tell you exactly what is bothering her. She could also have an infection of some sort.
An anal fissure in a child is unusual. Are you cleaning it very well and putting something like A&D or Desitin ointment on it?
At the very least, call the pediatrician's office and see if something is going around; ask their advice.
