I was *so* there a few years ago. He thinks that because this is a tradition that you're just going out to get back at him. Just do what I did and try to explain to him that you don't really want to sit at home by yourself all night and since he didn't invite you to go along, you thought it might be nice to hang out with some of your girl friends that didn't have anything to do that night either. Let him know that he is number one but since he's not going to be around, you shouldn't have to be by yourself. Then suggest that the two of you have a special new years date either the day before or the day after to make him feel special.
Trust me, it works wonders....good luck!

Sounds like he is feeling guilty about something. Are you suppose to sit home on New Year's Eve while he goes to a party? Bad idea to get started in life this way.

It's a man's world and double standards have always existed. I think it is chivalrous of him actually, wanting to protect you. It is a party he has gone to for years so it is not like he is up to something behind your back. I would let him go and if he wants you to stay home, I would stay home and let him know that you think it is adorable that he worries about you (this will help build up his masculine ego and make him like you even more). Have some girlfriends over to your place instead of going out. If you have a wonderful relationship with this guy, I would try to keep it wonderful and not start creating unnecessary problems. Would you rather fight and go out for the night and possibly loose this guy OR have this man as your man for 2007? Why make a mountain out of a molehill/ It is just one evening.

Just because your boyfriend acts that way doesn't mean all other men do. That's a silly generalization.
It seems to me like he's the "jealous type." My only suggestions are to either talk to him about your problem or discontinue your relationship.

Hello, he has a penis. That's what's wrong with him. If he just had a little hole where the semen leaked out, like in frogs, he'd feel differently. The ability to rape gives men power.

he doesn't trust you, which makes no sence because he, himself, is going to a party without you. i'm just curious, is he a truthful person, because i wonder what he's doing at his new years eve party, maybe that's why he thinks your new years eve party is similar to his. just a thought, but maybe i'm thinking too much, but i can't help but be curious.
