Global Warming is real, and is happening right as we speak. Studies have shown that if we don't do any thing the ice caps will melt raising sea level to a surprising 20 feet, drowning our countries. This problem is not a national threat but a global one. Global Warming is not caused by a hole in the ozone layer but by the excess carbon dioxide (co2) in the atmosphere. The green house gasses trap the suns rays and warming the earth. This is not natural, we are the cause of this threat. There is a lot you can do to help out! Global warming is caused by many things. The earth has gone through several ice ages and global warming occured and the ice melted.

Global warming is the current cause celeb because the carbon dioxide that is emitted via our burning of fossel fuel is a green house gas. While CO2 contributes to global warming, it is not the biggest part of the issue.

For example, the polar ice caps on Mars are melting. This could indicate that some external cause might also be heating Earth (increased solar output comes to mind).

The real truth is that the Earth is never static: it is either heating or it is cooling. I think that the Earth is heating now and that humans have a very minor part in it. I also think that it will benifit the human race as more of Asia and North America become usable land.

The only way we could prevent global warming would be to place some sort of screen in space to block some of the sun's energy, but I'm not sure we have to worry about one or two degrees.

Pollution is the major cause for global warming and nothing can be done as long as the corporate/political sectors are dealt with and taken out of power ,,,, The only thing these people are concerned with is the positive money flow they get from it and they'd shitt in their own nest and every one Else's to keep it coming in ,,,, In fact that's what they are doing now ,,,, Politicians are bought and paid for by the corporate sector and they won't make a decision until they figure out just how lucrative it's going to be for them ,,,, And the pubic us subject to their every whim ,,,,

the major problem we are facing, whether or not global warming is real, is the fact that excess CO2, is a threat to all life.
yes it is need in certain amounts, by plants, but too much CO2 can kill fungi, and most likely the mycorrhizal fungi in the soil that most plants depend on for survival.
even if the excess CO2 does not kill mycorrhizal fungi, studies have shown that it will cause sever damage to other fungi that decompose dead matter and free up nutrients for primary producers in the soil, leaving avialable nutrients for bacteria, which produce methane gas(another greenhouse gas).

now with that in mind, the reason we are seeing a rise in CO2 lelvels, is deforestation is reducing the amount of plants that trap CO2 in a different form. see the problem isn't too much CO2, but the fact that their is too much of it in the atmosphere at once. normally much of it would be trapped inside aplant, in the form of chemical energy produced after photsyntesis but if there are less forests, where is it going to go?

Gosh this is Such a good Question !!

Global warming is a very important problem right now, we (the humans) are the only responsible for this HUGE problem.

We MUST change our habbits, Oil and Gas burning are the principal causes of Global warming...

We need to start at home, STOP using "sprays" and change our cars for Hybrids or Electric ones... BUT, using the public transport is a good thing too...

Man may be contributing to Global warming, but I feel it may be just part of the Global Cycle.

After all, in the 1970's we were being told that we are heading towards another Ice Age.

Carbon dioxide is enlarging the hole in the ozone layer. The size of the hole right now is larger than ever, and its size is comparative to the size of the US. At this time of the year, the hole is larger, it will get somewhat smaller around June, but it's a pattern. So, it's likely next winter it will be even larger. The best thing we can do is try to conserve energy, like with energy efficient light bulbs, electronics that have an energy star label, ect. Another thing, is to purchase efficient vehicles like a hybrid. If we can all achieve these changes in our lives, then we could stop the size of the hole from increasing, it could possibly get shrink in size over time.
