Is LSD detectable in urinanylisis? He says it is only detectable by doing a spinal tap.I've heard this but wonder if and believe it is possible to detect by other means such as a urine screen.

You win.
It is absolutely detectable by urine radioimmunoassay (RIA).
In the toxicology laboratory of Hennepin County (Minnesota, USA) Medical Center, LSD is one of eight drugs screened in the *routine* urine immunoassay drugs-of-abuse panel.

LSD can be detected in the urine, but the window for detecting it is very small - 24-48 hours - and it's quite expensive to test for, and so is not regularly checked for.

LSD will NOT show up in a spinal tap thats a myth that suggests that LSD is stored in your spinal fluid forever. Both of those statements are incorrect... LSD can be searched for in a urine sample however its rare that it will be searched for.

I never heard of anybody getting tested for LSD. Urinalysis? Doubt it. Hair? I don't think at the moment, but in the future better hair analysis techniques may prove otherwise. Drug testing methods improve yearly- keep current and do the research.
