No, you aren't supposed to use alcohol or peroxide, or that ear cleaner they sell at malls either. You should use a mild soap, ideally one purchased from a professional piercer, like provon or satin. If you have none available, something unscented and mild will work. Like unscented baby wash or baby shampoo. You can also soak your piercing in a saline solution once daily. For more info on that, you can check out tribalectic.com

Don't mess with the tragus. I had a nasty cold this fall, and very soon after that, I got this big bump of skin right around the piercing. Had to start back treating it like it was day one. It went away, but it would have been really nasty if it hadn't.

NO you shoudl never clean piercings with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol!~ these kill the good tissues and the bacteria. it will irritate the piercing and cause a longer healing duration. same with ointments. exceopt they trap the discharge thats part of the healing process causing a moist environment for an infection to grow.

the piercer shoudl have told you all abotu the after care without even you having to ask! you need to use the aftercare pierce solution and the sea saalt soaks with warm distilled water and the sea salt mixed together. take a look at this site
well the site is down right now butlater go to www.bmezine.com
click on the aftercare on near the top then click on sea salt soaks. thise will be the diresctions on to how to prepare.

the sea salt soaks help with the pain, figth infections and aid healing.

i used cotton balls for my cartilage pierceing. just soak LARGE ir JUMBO cotton balls in the warm solution and soaked them for 15 minutes once a day and use the aftercare pierce solution twice a day.

I don't have a tragus pierce but I have a load of piercings elsewhere and you shouldn't clean any with alcohol ever, unless maybe you've had it pierced for years. Even then, it could dry your skin out and cause problems. Alcohol dries skin out way too much and is horrible for any piercings. The best thing to use on piercings is warm water and dial liquid soap, or saline (salt) solution. DON'T USE RUBBING ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE EVER! You'll be sorry if you do. If your piercer didn't tell you this and give you a little kit of what to clean it with, s/he isn't a professional.
