He asked me to go out with him and his buddies for drinks one day. When we got there he walked away from wher we were sitting and hung out watching the football game. A few minutes later I left. But I still have to see him often. Should I avoid him like he doesn't exist or just be cordial?

Cordial. Be nice to everyone even if you don't like them very much. It helps you a lot in the long run.

Don't ever let them see you sweat. If you ignore him he will know why and think he has a hold on your emotions. Be yourself and don't let him cause you to act any differently. He's got problems and I know guys like to think it's ok to do these things but it's not. If he wanted you there he needed to be with you, not the guys. If he did it just to see if you'd go them treated you like that he is inmature and doesn't need your company...what did he think you were going to do jump out of a cake to distract and intertain him and his buddies. did he think of you as a sports fan and one of the guys? I don't know, do you. You have to decide what you feel and why and then deal with it. good luck.

I'd be the adult and just be cordial....Let it go, if that's how he acts the first time he invited you somewhere it's like red flags are flying everywhere. Good for you for leaving!

He is a jerk! Be cordial and ignore him......meaning....speak to him and ignore him by paying him no mind.

The best thing would be to tell him directly to his face that what he did was very tacky (in a direct and calm way).

It's usually best to be honest with people. Why tell us? Tell HIM!

He didn't think that situation through. IF you want to hold it against him, go right ahead.
