I got a brand new lamp for my desk on Christmas, but it heats up easily so I have to turn it on and off all the time, so it doesn't cause a fire. Any tips or tricks to keep it cool?

Hi

That's correct you have to check out the Watt of your existing Light bulb and try to change the less watt Bulb. It will give the immediate solution.

First off, make completely sure that the bulb is the correct watt rating. Thats the first step. If it is, you shouldnt have any problems, as a circuit breaker will trip befor the lamp will ignite (supposedly).

If it carries the UL or CSA sticker, it won't catch on fire. There have been laws on the books for decades that prevent such an accident as long as the lamp is used properly.

check the bulb you have in it. Lamps will specify the wattage, if you have a bulb that is too high, it will cause it to overheat. Otherwise, you may have a lemon, and I would return it!

They make fluorescent tubes in all shapes and sizes now... I would give them a try. You actually win 2 ways...Less heat, less energy....

PS I know the initial cost is quite a bit more, but you end up saving in the end.

LOWER THE LIGHTBULB WATTAGE WITH A 20WATT OR 40WATT.
