I got a parking ticket for a meter violation, but when I looked at the meter, it still had seven minutes left. I took pictures of the meter and my car. Do I have any chance in fighting the ticket?

You don't really get to fight a parking ticket, atleast not in court. Most police departments have a public service officer assigned to the position reviewing parking cites. You can go in, explain your case and hope for the best. Would do it closer to Friday, they are happier, closer to the weekend.

Yes and no! Does the meter display a time of day to match your ticket? Maybe a good Samaritan put in money between the time the ticket was written and when you got back to your car. Will this ticket effect your insurance rates? If not pay it unless it is a lot of money. In Massachusetts violations including parking tickets effect insurance rates for 3 years and not for the better.

This is a difficult one to fight. Simply because the court could say "You could have fed the meter another quarter, and added more time to it before taking the photo". Believe me , it's almost impossible to fight city hall. But if singledad answers your question , he'll likely say something stupid like "A parking violation is a parking violation, pay the fine and move on". Don't ya just love people like that ? He's probably the same person I was trying to pass last night on the freeway, who would speed up everytime I'd try and go around him.

You may have a case and if your pictures are authenticated then perhaps can fight off the fine. If you’re trying to swindle the court out of a couple of bucks, then you’ll be fried. Take your chance depending on how badly you feel you were “taken” advantage of. Most likely, the cop will win over the court. Were you there for the ticket or was it left on your window? Consider the facts.

Yes you can fight it.

In a lot of cases the officer doesn't even show up and the case is then thrown out because of a lack of witness against you.

Taking the picture was a good idea and will show the judge that you aren't just trying to pull something to get out of it. However, it would be best if the time and date was on the picture.

No, because the courts can claim that you took the picture at some other time, even if you have a time stamp on the picture. Time stamp is set by the photographer. Pay the ticket and cut your losses.

sure. I'd fight it. Make sure you notify the court of your intent to dispute the ticket by the date specified on the ticket.

Yes contest it. If you have proof most definatley. Of coarse it would be easier to just pay. Those mother effers should drive off a cliff.
