I have tinea versicolor and have had it since I was a kid. I've tried lots of things that make it go away for a while, but it always comes back. What usually works the best is a dandruff shampoo that contains ketaconizole (not sure of spelling). Put that on the spots, let it dry and leave it on overnight. If you have someone to help you and you get all the spots covered, you'll have better luck getting rid of them. I think the problem I've had is not getting rid of them all, so then they come back.

Sounds like it could be versicolor. T. Versicolor can be white, pink, brown, yellow, etc. It is usually in large patches and has very clear boundaries. It can look a lot like vitilago.
Go see a dermatologist. They can tell you in 3 seconds if it is T. Versicolor or something else. There are great prescription products on the market that will take care of T. Versicolor (Oxistat comes to mind, it is low priced and is a once a day treatment for 4 weeks).

I also have Tinea Versicolor, i was told it was a virus or a fungus that effects the skin,it isn't contagious or unhealthy in any way,it just isn't very attractive. I have had it for 20 years, I have tried many things to get rid of it, but, I really don't think it will ever go away, I have just had to learn to deal with it. Mine is on my back and upper chest. I was told that it does spread to other areas of the body.

If it is Tinea Veriscolor it can be treated, however it will never really go away. My Husband has it and we've found that was works best for it is Selenium Sulfide which can be found in Selsun Blue(the dandruff shampoo in a blue bottle and red cap) He just dabs some on the rashes 30 minutes before hitting the shower and it usually goes away in a few days. He just repeats the process when it comes back. You should ask your dermatologist about it for more information.

I've heard of the symptoms and a dermatologist could probably take care of it with a topical lotion that cures it within weeks....it is a virus, but don't take mine or any ones advice, call your doctor
