Sure. Friends just gave us 4 tickets to the Magic Flute. Only my son and I can go. We need to find two more people to come, preferably a parent and child and preferably ones I want to go with. Before I send a general email out to about 20 people, I have asked a friend if he and his daughter would like to come. But, the show is tomorrow at 2 p.m., and I cannot wait too much longer. What do you think? I write because I tend to be too anxious when it comes to deadlines, etc.

You don't want to wait too long for this person to respond, in my experience people don't like to respond to invitations until the last minute in case something better comes up. You can always call the person you invited and simply tell them that they have until a certain time to tell you if they are going or not, and if you don't hear from them that you are going to give the tickets away. Meanwhile, you can make a list of other people that you are considering taking.

Call them and ask them on the phone. It is not rude and they should understand that you don't want the tickets to go to waste. If they decline, I would then call the next person on your list, and so forth. I would not leave messages if they were not there. Only deal with people in real time so you are not anxious about these last minute plans.

I would call and ask if he intends to go. It is not rude to inquire --that way you can do what you need to do if he cannot go!

Could you rephrase the question? I don't quite understand what you're asking.
