I went for a walk with my boyfriend 5 days ago. I'm feeling the pain of it today? My ankle is swollen, I can barely walk on it, I'm limping, when I walk I have to turn it to the side (I have to walk on the side of my foot), it feels like it has turned out-word? What could this be? Why would I feel the affects 5 days later?

PS. I called my doctor he isn't going to be in until next week!

You can't be absolutley sure until you go to a doctor. It may be a stress fracture, which can show up near the ankle on the side. They usually are there for a while, slowly building up from a shin splint. It always helps any injury to massage the hurt area and ice/heat the area.

Call your doctor's office back tomorrow morning and ask if another doctor is covering for yours. Tell them the situation, they'll probably tell you to go to the emergency room. Depending on where you live, there are a lot of satelite emergency rooms that deal with non-life threatening situations so you can get in and out instead of having to go to a major hospital. My advise, get it checked tomorrow. In the meantime, ice it to reduce the swelling.

Good luck and feel better.

Probably is an luxation, the swollen is a sign of inflamation due to the damaged ligaments. and the pains gets worse when you walk. You need inmovilization of your ankle
