Yes he will be fine my dog has ate a chocolate cookie before also and she turned out fine just make sure that he is doing well let him go outside for a while and get some air he will be fine I promise. Just remeber not to give him alot a chocolate cookie is not a whole lot but if he eats more than that you may want to take him to a vet but since it was just a cookie no need for that. Good luck i know he will be ok.

He'll be fine, this was last night, and he's ok. The thing about the chocolate is the type of chocolate it is. Chances are it's not pure chocolate, and there isn't enough of it to cause any harm. Other posters that always suggest you run to the vet must have a lot of money. You have to use your own common sense, and not rush to the vet for every little thing. If your dog eats bakers chocolate, I would be a little more concerned.

The lethal dosage of theobromine in dogs is between 250 and 500 mgs/kg, or about 2/3 to 1 1/3 of baking chocolate for every 2.2 pounds of body weight. However, serious non-fatal poisonings have been reported in dogs after eating smaller amounts.

At our practice, a 20-pound dachshund showed serious signs of poisoning after eating 3/4 of a pound of milk chocolate and another 22-pound dog died after eating two pounds of baking chocolate.

Deaths due to theobromine have been documented in horses who ate cocoa bean hulls used in bedding and in other livestock fed cocoa waste products. No chocolate poisonings have been reported in cats, which is probably a reflection of their eating habits.

The the first signs of chocolate poisoning are vomiting and diarrhea, increased urination and nausea. These can progress to cardiac arrhythmias and seizures.

If he ate only one, and this happened last night, and he's still acting alright, he should be fine.

Just, as the others have said, try not to let this happen again. Chocolate is not good for a dog, and the darker the chocolate, the worse it is.

Was it dark or bakers chocolate or milk. Chocolate isn't good for pets, but dark and bakers chocolate are the worst. The affects also depend on the size and age of the dog. IF it got one or two milk chocolate chips, I say it'll be fine. If it ate a 1 pound bar of bakers chocolate...then call the vet.

Chocolate is dangeroun to some animals, including dogs, because it is a stimulant. Like illeagal drugs. Anyways, the stimulant causes dogs to experience heart failire.

But only larger amounts can kill.

But small amounts make dogs addicted.(LIKE DRUGS! :0 )

If he is not showing any signs of being sick, I would say he will be OK. However try to make sure this doesn't happen on a regular basis. No two animals are alike, just as people are not alike. Keep a watch over him, and if he does get sick, take him to a vet.

I think he will be OK, but I would call the vet's office and make an appointment, depending on how much he ate, you might be able to give him peroxide to make him vomit it up, but I think if it wasn't pure chocolate he'll probable be OK.

Food poisoning for humans and animals show up in minutes, not hours.
