its effective, yet VERY unhealthy!!! The diet induces Ketosis (your body makes acetone {nail polish remover} and its very harmful to your kidneys, liver, gallbladder and pancreas
Plus, if you eat so much as a crouton, you'll bloat up like a blowfish
please try a different route for weight loss, I lost 70 lbs on Xantrex3 in less than 2 months, but I also exercised a lot and wrote down everything I ate, and ate sensibly, and saw my doc every week to moniter me

It works well enough but if you lose all the weight you want then go back to your old habits, the weight will pile back on with a vengeance. Atkins is so restrictive, few people can tolerate it as a permanent life-style. South Beach diet is the same principle but far less restrictive and probably easier to maintain in the long run

Most of the people I know who actually stuck to the rules said it did work initially, but they seemed to bottom out at point. They'd lose 15 or 20 pounds, but not much more, no matter how long they kept up with it. Then it came right back after they quit.

And its not a healthy diet anyways, especially for younger people. You can't just not eat carbs. Your body needs them for energy.

i tried the atkins diet and ended up in the hospital. drs said it was not a well balanced diet and can throw your whole body system out of whack.

Yes I tried it. I became very sick with all the food restrictions. It did not work for me. You can lose that way, but you have to stay on the diet forever or you will gain the weight back.

I have not. But I have a friend who did. Yes, it worked. The bad part is that she had a serious heart attack shortly after reaching her goal weight. The further bad part is that she gained back all the weight and, probably, some more.
