I am just curious to know what others(women can answer) think because my ex-boyfriend always seemed to want to teach me how to cook. We would go out on regular dates but then he would want to spend time showing me how to make a meal.(BTW, I'm not complaining) I guess I am at a disadvantage because I can't cook to save my life.(I really can't even cook an egg let alone rice).

foot_liquor....I respect your answer but honestly some women just don't have the time to learn how to cook. I don't think you should consider someone stupid becuase they don't know how to cook.

In my life I have lived with three woman. None of those woman knew how to cook. Well, one could pour a mean bowl of cereal and an other was great at opening a can of chili but outside that I have always done the cooking and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Not really i think its good that they do know how to cook, it certainly makes life easier when you have your own family but i think cooking should be a shared thing and not only done by the lady in a relationship or equally the man

Cooking is the second most important thing to keep a man. If you are happy going from man to man, fine, refuse to learn. Otherwise learn to cook at least some simple dishes, or you will have one bad ending after another in your relationships.

My feeling is that women and men should be able to cook. There seems to be a trend where women these days are proud of the fact they can't cook. To me, that just makes them look stupid (as if they are above preparing a meal for themselves or others). I immidiately strike them off my list. Cooking for yourself is imperative for good health and financial stability, and is still the way to many men's hearts,

If I was dating a girl, I don't expect her to know how to cook. It would be nice, but not a requirement.
If you know a guy who wants women to live in the 20th century, it probably wouldn't be a good idea. They don't respect women at all.

If their intent is marriage, probably, but it's not the most important thing. Learning how to cook is a valuable skill even (especially) when you're single. Take it from me — I make a mean pot of macaroni.

Not about expectations of men, only the expectation that your ex liked showing you how. Perhaps he loved cooking and was only trying to share his passion ?
